(AUG 12) On August 2, 2025, the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan,  became the site of an unimaginable tragedy as two male boxers, Shigetoshi Kotari and Hiromasa Urakawa, succumbed to fatal injuries following their respective bouts.  The event, promoted by Akihiko Honda’s Teiken Promotions, showcased several matches; however, it was the outcomes of Kotari’s and Urakawa's fights that were brought on by sheer tragedy in the ring. (AUGUST 7)  In the heart of Grenoble, France, during the 1980s, a unique sports club came into existence—a place for amateurs, females and males to be able to learn how to box and wrestle. The name of the club was "The Foyer Club De Grenoble."  The club was for the youth, from the ages of  ten to sixteen, where it was a place that taught discipline and camaraderie with each other.  The training facility was managed by the M. (AUG 4) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Last Saturday, the United States closed out the 2025 Brandenburg Cup in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, in dominant fashion. Three Female Bouts Featured in Incheon, South Korea August 3, 2025

(AUG 3) Last night, the Nova Boxing Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea, featured three female bouts on the undercard. In the first bout of the evening, 45-year old Eun Young Lee, 104 1/2, made her pro debut against the much younger boxer, 26-year old Hye Sun Park, 104 1/2.  The judges' scores ending with a majority decision in favor of Lee. (JUNE 27) Last night at the Korakuen Hall, in Tokyo, Japan, Mika Yagio, 111 3/4, of  Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, won a six-round unanimous decision over pro debuter Arisa Kishimoto, 111 1/2, of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.  The final judges scores were 58-56 on all cards. Equal Opportunity: IOC confirms gender parity in boxing at LA28 with seven weight classes for both men and women Source:  IOC April 13, 2025

(APRILl 13) LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed the weight classes and quota places for the boxing competition at the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) where there will be full parity between men and women.  It means there will be seven weight classes for both men and women, who will have an equal share of the 248 quota places in the boxing competition (124 each).  Full Story

Cudos Wins Vacant IBF Minimumweight Title by Controversial Split Decision Over Baumstarh by Ron Scarfone April 11, 2025

(APRIL 11) On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Estadio F.A.B., Sol Cudos won the vacant IBF minimumweight title by split decision against Maria Sol Baumstarh. The event was broadcast by TyC Sports in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Boxeo De Primera (BDP) which is affiliated with TyC Sports has the video of the fight on its YouTube channel. Early in round seven, a three-punch combination to the head by Baumstarh caused Cudos to drop her right knee and glove to the canvas. Rupprecht Wins Undisputed Atomweight Championship Against Yamanaka by Ron Scarfone April 10. 2025

(APRIL 10) Tina “Tiny Tina” Rupprecht of Germany defeated Sumire Yamanaka of Japan by majority decision in a fight between the top two atomweights for supremacy in the division. Yamanaka held the IBF title in that weight class, so Rupprecht added that title to her other three titles from the WBC, WBA, and WBO. (JAN 27) On Tuesday, January 21st, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Yuko Kuroki won the vacant WBA minimumweight title against Ye Kyeng Seo. Seo is the boxer previously known as Ryu Kyung Suh. There are variations in the spelling of words when translating from the Korean alphabet to the English alphabet, so the same name can be spelled differently. (JAN 6) The first reported women's boxing bout that took place thus far was two days ago on January 4th, at the Hotel Nongshim, Busan, where Kyung Joo Bae, 125 1/2, of Changwon, South Korea, won her bout when she defeated Hyun Hee Lim, 125 1/4, of Busan, South Korea. Kyung won by a fourth round unanimous decision over Hyun Hee Lim. The final judges scores were 37-39, 36-40, and 37-40. Kyung is now 1-2-2 (0KO), and Lim is 0-1-0.  Full Story

Nisa Rodriguez Wins by TKO over Melody Popravak December 18, 2024
