see all 17 boxers competing on the international stage next week, 15
of whom will make their international debuts with the Stars and
Stripes. Of the 17 athletes named to the 2026 Youth High Performance
Team, team captains Angel Blancarte (men’s 85 kg | Hutchinson, Kan.)
and Lauryn Elmore (women’s 65 kg | Sacramento, Calif.) are the lone
returners on the roster. Blancarte and Elmore enter their second
year on the United States Youth national team after securing bronze

decision against Maria Sol Baumstarh. The event was broadcast by TyC Sports in

Sports has the video of the fight on its YouTube channel. Early in round seven,
a three-punch combination to the head by Baumstarh caused Cudos to drop her

Nisa Rodriguez Wins by
TKO over Melody Popravak

(DEC 18) Last night at Sony Hall, in New York, Nisa
Rodriguez, 165, won by a second round TKO over Melody Popravak, 162
3/4, out of Snellville, Georgia. According to a press release,
Rodriguez rocked Popravak with just 30 seconds to go in round two.
The bout was scheduled for six rounds. Rodriguez remains undefeated
at 3-0-0 (1KO), and Popravak is now 2-3-1 (1KO).

(DEC 18) The year was 1983, the venue was at
the Civic Auditorium, in
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Women's Boxing was a struggle in the late 1970s and 1980s, with the difficulty
of finding opponents to fight and at that time women's boxing was looked at more
in the light of being a special feature on a card, and the media was not very
kind many times when they wrote about females who wanted to fight in the sport.

Martin with an Honorary Lifetime Champion Award

(DEC 15) The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently
celebrated an iconic figure in the sport of boxing by honoring
Christy Martin, a true pioneer of women’s boxing. During a special
event held on Friday night, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, the WBA
president, awarded Martin the title of lifetime champion,
recognizing her significant contributions to the sport and her role
in paving the way for future generations of female boxers.

Uruguay, Lucia Evelyn Marrero, 125 1/4, of Montevideo, won a first
