(MAR 9) Danny “Swift” Garcia of Swift Promotions
held his boxing event titled “The Future Is Now” at the 2300 Arena in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 8th.Swift Promotions started
promoting boxing events last year with four events in 2024.
This event is their first one this year and was live streamed on the BXNG TV
website. Marc Abrams and Steve “USS” Cunningham were the commentators.
Cunningham was a former cruiserweight world champion. Three of the five events
of Swift Promotions were held in Philadelphia which is Garcia’s hometown. Garcia
is a former world champion in the super lightweight and welterweight divisions.

The one female bout on the fight card was Nyousha
“Supefly” Nakhjiri versus Josefina Vega which was scheduled for six rounds in
the flyweight division. Nakhjiri signed with Swift Promotions after she won her
pro debut last year. Nakhjiri is the first female boxer to sign with the
promotional company. Because of that, Nakhjiri is known as the First Lady of
Swift Promotions. Nakhjiri is originally from Iran and now resides in Vancouver,
Canada. Vega is from Ecuador and now lives in the city of New York. Nakhjiri was
a successful amateur boxer with a 45-10 record and was a member of the Canadian
national team. Nakhjiri won twice in Mexico as a professional.
In her third pro fight, she was facing a durable veteran in Vega who was only
stopped once in her pro career. Vega lost to contender Jessica Camara by
knockout, but lost by decision against other contenders such as Johanna Wonyou,
LeAnna Cruz, and Jasmine Artiga. Both Nakhjiri and Vega weighed 111 pounds at
the weigh-in. The flyweight division has a weight limit of 112 pounds. There was
an age difference between Nakhjiri at 27 years of age and Vega at 40. Vega made
her pro debut in 2009. Nakhjiri and her team walked to the ring wearing T-shirts
with “Superfly 3-0” on the back of the shirts, so they were expecting a win
against Vega.
At about the halfway point of the first round of Nakhjiri vs. Vega, Vega landed
a left jab/straight right combination to the head. During the one-minute break
between rounds, Vega was standing whereas Nakhjiri was sitting. Some boxers
choose to stand during the breaks between rounds, but it is not the norm. Round
two was a close round with Vega boxing better in the first minute, but Nakhjiri
was the better boxer during the second minute. During round four, Nakhjiri
switched from an orthodox stance to southpaw and then Vega threw several punches
which Nakhjiri blocked with her arms and gloves. Nakhjiri then switched back to
orthodox.
Vega definitely did not come just for a paycheck. She tried to win, but did not
land enough punches and Nakhjiri was able to block or evade most of them.
Nakhjiri likely won rounds three to six which is most of the fight. The total
judges’ scores were 59-55, 58-56, and 58-56. Nakhjiri won by unanimous decision
and improves her record to 3-0, 1 KO whereas Vega is now 9-12, 4 KOs.After the
referee raised Nakhjiri’s arm in victory, Danny Garcia entered the ring to
congratulate her.
