Lauren Price and Mikaela Mayer Move Closer to Undisputed Showdown

(DEC 1) The highly anticipated undisputed women's welterweight title fight between Lauren Price and Mikaela Mayer is nearing reality. As of November 26, 2025, a formal offer is officially on the table for a showdown targeted for 2026. This bout promises to be a defining moment for women's boxing, bringing together two champions at the peak of their powers to unify the 147-pound division.

Fight fans rely on Vegas Insider to find
one of the best sportsbooks to gauge how close a matchup might be, yet the true narrative here is the event's historical significance. To be sure, this contest is about legacy rather than just odds. It represents the pinnacle of competition in the welterweight class.

Champions on a Collision Course

Lauren Price currently reigns as the unified WBC, WBA, and IBF welterweight champion. She secured these belts following a masterful performance against Natasha Jonas in March 2025. Price has maintained an undefeated 9-0 record while defeating some of the top names in the sport. Her ascent has been rapid and impressive.

Mayer holds the WBO welterweight title. In fact, she recently expanded her resume by becoming a three-weight world champion. In October 2025, Mayer defeated Mary Spencer via unanimous decision to claim the WBA, WBC, and WBO super welterweight belts at 154 pounds. However, she has expressed a clear desire to return to welterweight for undisputed glory.

Negotiations and Past Hurdles

Talks for this bout initially took place earlier in 2025. Unfortunately, those discussions fell through due to financial disagreements. Promoter Ben Shalom is now leading the push to finalize the contract. Mayer previously claimed that Price "priced herself out" of the negotiations.

Rather than letting the fight fade, both camps have publicly called for the clash since March 2025. Price respects Mayer's willingness to fight anyone but remains adamant that she will emerge victorious. She has even called it her toughest test to date. It seems that the financial hurdles are the last obstacle to clear before an official announcement.

Tale of the Tape and Tactical Matchup

The stylistic clash between these two is fascinating for boxing purists. Mayer is a 35-year-old orthodox fighter standing 5'8" with a 66.5-inch reach. She brings a wealth of experience with 184 professional rounds and is known for her high-volume punching.

On the other hand, Price is a 31-year-old southpaw standing 5'5" with a 64-inch reach. She does not rely on brute force. Instead, Price excels in superior footwork and ring IQ. She uses sharp counters to neutralize opponents. Both fighters possess a knockout rate of approximately 23%. Therefore, this bout will likely be a tactical chess match determined by skill and strategy.

Venue Discussions and Future Dates

The fight is targeted for early 2026, with February being a potential timeframe. A significant point of contention remains the location. Mayer favors a neutral venue in the UK, such as London's Royal Albert Hall. She prefers this over Price's home turf in Wales. Moreover, a summer date in the United States has been floated as an alternative.

The stakes could not be higher. This bout involves the unification of all four major belts—WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO—at 147 pounds. It is hailed as the biggest fight in women's boxing. Mayer is confident she can drop back down in weight if the money is right. Price is ready to defend her territory.

*  Lauren Price: 9-0 Record, Unified WBC, WBA, IBF Champion.
*  Mikaela Mayer: 22-2 Record, WBO Champion, Three-weight
    World Champion.
Significance: Undisputed Welterweight Championship.
Projected Date: Early 2026.

This is the fight the world wants to see.
