Maricela "La Diva" Cornejo to fight Natasha "The Nightmare" Spence at Legends Casino

(AUGUST 5) On Friday night at the Legends Casino in Toppenish, Washington there is a female bout on the card.  The bout will feature  Maricela “La Diva” Cornejo,  returns home where she was born and raised close to the casino.  The live boxing event is promoted by Roy Jones Jr.  The bout will be live-streamed on YouTube channel RJJBOXING, and that will be at 10 pm ET.  The whole card will be streamed. Tickets are available at the casino or on Ticketmaster.

Cornejo will be fighting Natasha “The Nightmare” Spence, of Canada in a six-rounder, in the middleweight division.

In men's boxing, in the co-feature, local favorite Andrew Murphy will fight Jeremiah Sierra in an eight-round super middleweight bout.

In another six-rounder,  Joshua Juarez will face Oscar Cortes; and Chris Young vs. Derick Funkhouser, six round bout. Opering the night will be Jovanis Rodgriguez vs. Alvin Welch.

Cornejo (19-7, 7 KOs) was born in nearby Prosser and raised in Grandview, Washington.  She made her professional debut in 2012 and in just her fifth bout, Maricela won the WBC International super middleweight title. For her full biography,

Cornejo is excited to return to her hometown, and said in a press release, “Beyond excited to fight in front of my hometown! It has been a goal of mine to come back here where I grew up and have all my family be able to take a 30 min drive to watch me fight. Looking forward to putting on a great show come Aug 8th.”

Natasha “The Nightmare” Spence (8-8, 6 KOs), of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and has been fighting professionally since 2010. She fought for, but lost, in a WBA and WBO super welterweight world title fight, in 2017. Her full biography,
