(SEPT 26) On September 19, 2025, Canadian
boxing legend 43-year old Jelena Mrdjenovich, 122 ¼, of Canada, stepped back
into the ring in Detroit and reminded the boxing world why she remains one of
the women’s boxing top boxers. In her first bout since a lengthy layoff,
Mrdjenovich won a unanimous decision victory over Liliana Martinez, 123 ½, of
the Dominican Republic, in an eight-round bout.
Mrdjenovich has been a professional boxer since 2003, over 20 years ago.
Mrdjenovich, has collected multiple world championships across three weight
divisions, including reigns with the WBC, WBA, WIBA, and WIBF titles.

Her fight against Martinez was not for a championship, but it carried weight of
a different kind—the chance to prove to herself and the world that she still had
the tools, the will, and the heart to compete.
Mrdjenovich last fight took place on February of 2025, when she won an
eight-round unanimous decision over Jessica Bellusci.
Before that one fight in 2025, Mrdjenovich had not fought since June 8, 2023,
when she fought Calista Silgado in a ten round bout that resulted in a Majority
decision. Final judges scores were 74-78 on all cards.
Mrdjenovich improved her boxing record to 44-12-2 (19KO), and Martinez is now
25-23-0 (16 KO).
