June 15, 2026
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - Thirteen years ago on June 14, 2013,
WBAN made history by sanctioning
its first-world title bout in Sweden. The monumental evening
turned bittersweet. Local star Frida Wallberg suffered a
severe brain injury during her 10-round championship fight.
Wallberg defended her WBC and
WBAN Super Featherweight world titles was added onto this
fight against challenger Diana Prazak. Prazak won the
intense bout via an eighth-round knockout.
Medical personnel immediately
treated Wallberg in the ring. Emergency responders
transported her out of the venue on a stretcher. She was
rushed to a local hospital for emergency surgery.
Doctors operated on Wallberg
during the night to treat a severe brain hemorrhage. Swedish
press reports indicate medical staff briefly awakened
Wallberg earlier today. She successfully responded to verbal
communication from her care team.
The villain of the movie of the year in 2005,
Lucia Rijker was Diana Prazak's Trainer at the time.
Physicians subsequently placed
her back into a medically induced coma. Specialists will
monitor her condition closely before attempting to awaken
her again.

Fast forwarding to April 5,
2025, both Wallberg and Prazak were inducted into the
International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame, in Las Vegas,
Nevada.
