Ruiz and Kubicki Battle for the WBC Super Flyweight World Title
November 20, 2025

Alexas "Iron Lady" Kubicki takes on Adelaida "The Cobra" Ruiz at the Save Mart Center, hoping to walk out of the ring with the vacant WBC super flyweight world championship. With so much on the line, there's no doubt that the fight is going to be one for the ages with two women who are willing and capable of taking it all the way. It's all going down on the 29th of November with immeasurable anticipation from fans locally and worldwide.

Our first contender in the figurative left corner is Adelaida Ruiz, a seasoned fighter with experience on her side, as she comes in at 37 years, 1 month, 1 week, and 5 days old (at the time of writing). Ruiz is no novice to boxing success, as she won the interim WBC female super flyweight world title on the 8th of September 2022 in a unanimous decision against Colombia-born Sonia Osoro. At this time in her career, she had gone 18 matches unbeaten with 17 wins, 1 draw, and 8 knockouts, but this was before she faced and lost her title to US-born Virginia "Ginny" Fuchs by split decision, with one of the judges calling the fight in her favor and the other two against.

The fight between Ruiz and Fuchs was nothing short of show-stopping as both women went at each other with all their might. The intensity was felt in the ring and outside as boxing fans took to the internet to place wagers. While Ruiz was the favorite to win with 8/11 odds against Fuchs at 11/10, the bout was in constant flux, requiring punters to explore
no verification betting options that allowed them to get into the action without leaving anything on the table. At the same time, these sites allowed them to protect their identities, as they did not need to share any sensitive information to access them. Which was why, at the end of the day, not to take anything away from Kubicki, it took people in the boxing community by surprise when it was announced that the title fight was between Kubicki and Ruiz, especially considering the fact that the former is fresh out of a one-sided defeat.

Fuchs, aged 37, has been very vocal about the decision to keep her "unfairly" out of the title fight. She believes the information circulating about her being unavailable is untrue. In a recent interview, she emphasized that she wanted people to know she's been available, and that her being left out is more likely a political reason than the thumb injury she sustained in her fight against Ruiz. However, the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, in his bid to make sense of the situation, explained that the champion, Ashley Gonzalez, sustained an injury before she could defend her title against Ruiz, and that Fuchs was unavailable until February. It's a big misunderstanding that they hope to make right by giving Fuchs a chance to face the winner of this bout for a title shot, but until then, this was going to be Kubicki's chance.

Alexas Kubicki is very much aware of the chance she has to face off for the title, and she has no intention of losing it. The Iron Lady is as tough an opponent as they come and very eager to make her mark in Women's boxing on US soil. Like Ruiz, she is also coming to the match on the back of a
loss to Gabriela Fundora earlier in the year. While much younger than Ruiz at the age of 22 years, 5 months, 3 weeks, and 4 days (at the time of writing), she is not one to shy away from a scrap. Fans are expecting her to take the fight to Ruiz with characteristic discipline and technical prowess that is guaranteed to test Ruiz's powerful offense and aggression. It will not be an easy bout for Kubicki, as Ruiz's raw power and explosive combinations have proven time and time again to be too much for many contenders to handle. Still, if Kubicki has a point to prove and a statement to make, none will be clearer than a win here.

The joy of a win here for Kubicki or Ruiz, for that matter, pales in comparison to what this fight is expected to do for the advancement of women's boxing. This fight earmarks all the good work that has been put in place by the WBC to put women's boxing in contention. In as many boxing spaces, communities, and forums as you can imagine, there are conversations about how the fight will go down, invariably bringing a lot of attention to the sport and all the female athletes who are putting in their best, giving their all, and showing up. The current predictions see Kubicki take the win, with polls showing a 77% decision call.

Both fighters step into the ring with something bigger than a title on the line, carrying pride, momentum, and the hopes of their supporters. Ruiz brings experience and fire, while Kubicki arrives with hunger and something to prove, setting the stage for a matchup defined by grit and skill in equal measure. No matter who claims the vacant WBC super flyweight crown, this bout pushes women's boxing forward and delivers a night fans will talk about long after the final bell.
