DUBLIN, IRELAND - DUBLIN, IRELAND— The weights are official
for the historic "Once Upon a Time" boxing card at Croke Park. The atmosphere
reached a fever pitch today as undisputed super-lightweight champion Katie
Taylor officially tipped the scales for the final time in her legendary career.
Broadcast live to millions of fans worldwide, the high-stakes weigh-in event
opened with a compelling live assessment from Mikaela Mayer, being interviewed
prior to the weigh-in.
The event is SOLD OUT with 83,000 fans going to this
event! Unbelievable, in a good way! Congratulations to Taylor for all she
has done in the sport.
"Katie has proven time and again that she has the heart of a warrior," Mayer
noted during the opening segment. Following Mayer's expert prelude, the fighters
took the stage to make their bouts official. Stepping onto the Katie Taylor hit
the scales at 139.6 lbs. Undefeated French challenger Flora Pili followed right
behind, weighing in at 139.9 lbs, officially clearing both fighters for the
Undisputed Junior Welterweight Championship clash.
"We have done the work, the preparation is complete, and now it is time to
perform," Taylor said shortly after stepping off the scales. "I hear everything
being said, but my focus remains unchanged. Tomorrow night, I leave the ring the
undisputed champion."
The full undercard also successfully made weight this afternoon, solidifying a
spectacular night of boxing from top to bottom. The official weight outcomes for
