Taylah Gentzen of Australia Wins the vacant WBA Oceania Lightweight Title
by Sue TL Fox
July 27, 2025

(JULY 27) On Friday, July 25, 2025, at Southport RSL Club in Southport, Australia, Taylah Gentzen faced off against Nadia Flalhi for the vacant WBA Oceania Lightweight Title. This fight was not just a match; it marked a significant turning point in Gentzen's pro career and she won this bout by a ten-round Majority decision over Flalhi.

After the fight, Taylah Gentzen took to social media to express her gratitude of her victory. In her Facebook post, she acknowledged the fight as an "absolute war," extending respect to Nadia Flalhi and her team.

Taylah, growing up in Werribee, Victoria—a working-class suburb—she learned early on the value of effort and determination. “You had to be tough in one way or another,” she remarked, emphasizing how her upbringing shaped her strong work ethic. With approximately sixty amateur fights under her belt and winning the Australian welterweight national champion for two consecutive years, Taylah''s foundation in boxing is solid.

Taylah began boxing as a professional in March of 2023, in New Castle, when she won her pro debut against Hayley Adrian in a four-round unanimous decision. This was her second fight in 2025 when she fought Flalhi.
