(DEC 5) On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) will host a monumental event to honor and celebrate our Twenty (20)  Elite 2026 IWBHF Inductees, and included to commemorate an iconic moment in sports history—our 2026 Special Award Recipients celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the legendary fight between Christy Martin and Diedre Gogarty. This special celebration, taking place at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, promises to honor the impact this bout had on women’s boxing and to recognize the contributions of numerous elite inductees. The Christy Martin vs. Dierdre Gogarty Fight That Changed the fight game in Women's Boxing! 

Thirty years ago, on March 16, 1996, the landscape of women’s boxing saw a significant shift when Christy Martin faced Dierdre Gogarty in a match that transcended expectations. Broadcasted during a Showtime card that featured the heavyweight clash between Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno, this bout captured the attention of millions. 

Both fighters demonstrated incredible skill, courage, and heart inside the ring, showcasing the high level of talent in women’s boxing. Martin, with her unanimous decision victory, would soon become a household name, gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated and making appearances on national television. This fight not only marked a turning point for the sport but also paved the way for future generations of female boxers, solidifying their place in the boxing world.

Modern Female Boxer(s):  Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada; Cindy “Checkmate” Serrano;  Raja “Raging Raja” Amasheh;  Kali “KO” Reis;  Melissa "Huracán Shark" Hernandez; Heather “The Heat” Hardy; Ronica “Queen” Jeffrey;  Hollie “Hot Stuff” Dunaway; Momo Koseki; Naoko Fujioka;  Eva Wahlstrom;  Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras (Posthumous);  Non-Boxing Inductees:  Al Bernstein – Broadcast Journalist, Analyst, Writer,  Hall of Fame Inductee in many organizations;  Bettina Palle (Danish boxing promoter 25 plus years); Melvina Lathan – Professional Boxing Judge, Chair of the NYSAC, Hall of Famer; Jeanette Salazar serves as the Public Relations Director for the International Boxing Federation (IBF).  Trailblazer/Pioneer Female Boxers  Deborah "Knockout" Nichols;   Christine Kreuz; Mitzi "Smokin" Jeter; and Sandra "The Shark" Yard. 

Also we have two more Special Award Recipients, "Beyond the Ropes" awards, Blanca Gutierez, and Daveida "Candy" Jacobs.

OUR Special Keynote Speaker is none other than Laila Ali!
