(JULY 8) WBAN would like to give a huge “Shoutout”
to Jake Paul of Most Valuable Promotions. Paul is signing many of the Top
Female Boxers in the sport and giving them the exposure that women’s boxing has
been needing for so long---he is not just making headlines; he’s rewriting the
narrative of a sport that has long been overshadowed.
For over 27 years, WBAN (Women’s Boxing Archive
Network) has covered this sport on the net….and we have seen many lulls and
highs in the sport. We have always been dedicated to championing female
boxers, even amidst challenging times when their talents that were regularly
overlooked.
We tried to convince promoters that there were fantastic female boxers in the
sport, but it was met with a deaf ear. Women's Boxing has truly been an
uphill battle at times----knowing firsthand the many countless exceptional
female fighters that we covered in the sport when no one paid attention to them,
were truly faced a barrage of obstacles.
It was so frustrating to see women boxers being under-paid; ignored on big
boxing cards; ignored by television networks; and ignored by the media, and
promoters that could have done much more.
Well, ladies your time has come, we are finally seeing great strides in the
sport that includes one of the biggest and most prominent all female cards
taking place on Friday, July 11th, that can be seen on Netflix, and or attend
this fantastic event at the Madison Square Garden, in New York.
Jake Paul is going "all in" with women's boxing, and WBAN is loving it!
Mark your calendars for July 11th, as it marks a pivotal moment in the history
of women’s boxing with the first all-female boxing card broadcasted on a
platform like Netflix. This event will take place at the iconic Madison Square
Garden. It’s not just a
fight card; it’s a celebration of female boxers who have fought tirelessly for
their place in the ring.
Paul’s efforts to promote this event underscore a significant cultural shift
within boxing. It represents a collaborative effort among various promoters,
including Eddie Hearn and Salita Promotions, who have also taken significant
steps toward supporting women’s boxing.
Together, these movers and shakers are
creating an environment where female boxers can thrive, and showcasing talent!
