Contenders Tiara Brown and LeAnna Cruz Win in Philadelphia
by Ron Scarfone
January 21, 2025

(JAN 21) Kali Reis promoted her second professional boxing event titled “Elite Fight Night” which was again at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event was live streamed on the BXNG TV website. There were three women’s bouts on the fight card. WBC No. 1 ranked featherweight contender Tiara Brown of Fort Myers, Florida faced Calista “La Tormenta” Silgado of Colombia in a fight scheduled for eight rounds. Silgado has gone the distance against many world-class boxers. Silgado went the distance against Jennifer Han and Cindy Serrano which were for world featherweight titles. Silgado had the best win of her pro career in October 2023 when she fought Stevie Morgan for the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) world lightweight title.  Silgado won by majority decision to win her first world title. Morgan is currently rated No. 20 by the International Boxing Organization (IBO) in the super lightweight division.

Brown vs. Silgado was mostly fought at close range because Silgado is fearless, but she was also holding a lot towards the end of the fight. Brown landed punches more frequently, but Silgado proved to be durable as she has in the past against other contenders. The total judges’ scores were 80-72 by all three judges. Brown won by unanimous decision and improves her record to 18-0, 11 KOs whereas Silgado is now 22-18-4, 16 KOs. This was a stay busy fight for Brown as she awaits her upcoming world title shot against WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicolson. The WBC featherweight championship is expected to be in Australia sometime in March.

LeAnna Cruz of Allentown, Pennsylvania is rated No. 3 by the WBA in super flyweight division. Her aliases are “Bumblebee” and “2 Much.” Cruz was definitely too much for her opponent Amy Naert of Belgium. Naert did better than expected when she fought last year against Rosalinda Rodriguez for the WBC International bantamweight title. Naert lost by split decision in that fight. However, Naert did worse than expected against Cruz. Although Cruz is known for using an orthodox stance, she sometimes switches to south paw and she said that she is “southpaw low key” after the fight.

In round two, Cruz was in a southpaw stance as she cornered Naert in a corner of the ring. Cruz pummeled Naert relentlessly until Naert went down on one knee. The referee immediately stopped the fight at 27 seconds of the second round. Cruz won by TKO and got the first win by knockout of her pro career. Cruz has no amateur boxing experience. Cruz improves her record to 10-0, 1 KO whereas Naert is now 11-5, 3 KOs.

Shera Mae Patricio of Waianae, Hawaii faced Josefina “Mina” Vega of Ecuador in the super flyweight division. Patricio was a national amateur champion and she has continued her success as a professional boxer.  Patricio is 22 years of age whereas Vega is 40. This was an action-packed fight with both landing punches.

In round three, a right hand to the head from Patricio caused Vega to topple backwards and go down. Vega got back up and the round ended. The fight went the four-round distance. The total judges’ scores were 40-35 by all three judges. Patricio won by unanimous decision and improves her record to 4-0, 2 KOs whereas Vega is now 9-11, 4 KOs.

This event was co-promoted by Kali Reis of KOhen Promotions and Diane Fischer of Dee Lee Promotions. Reis is a former world champion and also currently works as an actress on television and in movies. Fischer has been a boxing promoter for a long time and will be inducted into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) in 2025 for her achievements.
