(APR 17) PARIS, France — 2016 Olympic gold medalist and former world champion Estelle
Mossely, 138, of France, made a statement in her highly anticipated return to professional
boxing, securing a unanimous decision victory over Colombia’s Bexcy Mateus, 138,
of Bogota, Colombia on
April 9, 2026.

The bout, held at the Westfield Les 4 Temps in Puteaux, Hauts-de-Seine,
marked Mossely's first professional fight after a three-year hiatus from the pro
ranks.
Mossely (12-0-1, 1 KO) demonstrated little ring rust against the battle-tested
Mateus (8-3, 7 KOs) in the 10-round super lightweight contest. The French star
controlled the pace with sharp technical precision, ultimately earning favor on
all three judges' scorecards to maintain her unbeaten professional record.
"After three years away, it was essential to find my rhythm again," Mossely
stated following the win. Her absence from professional competition followed a
pivot back to amateur boxing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, though she
recently resumed her professional trajectory with a preliminary outing in Dubai
in late 2025 before this landmark April victory in France.
It is reported (not confirmed) that Mossely was slated for a second April appearance against
Argentina’s Karen Elizabeth Carabajal on April 23 at the Salle Wagram. But the
event was to be an "all-female" show, promoted by Brahim Asloum, had
been cancelled following a shoulder injury to co-headliner and 2024 Olympic gold
medalist Imane Khelif.
