Women's Boxing Action in Puerto Rico and more!

(JAN 4) Last night in Puerto Rico there was a full action-packed boxing event that took place with women and men’s boxing. The event took place at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, and had several female bouts featured on the card.

In the main event, the unified WBO and WBA featherweight champion Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, 125 ½, successfully defending her titles by winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Reina Tellez, 126.6 (over the weight limit by .6). Tellez steps in as a late replacement for Erika Cruz. This 10-round world title bout was contested under men's boxing rules, with three-minute rounds, a standard Serrano has long championed.

In the co-main event that featured a battle for the WBA women's lightweight title, Stephanie Han, 134 3/4,  won by a seventh round technical stoppage over Holly Holm, 134 3/4.  Han received a cut in an accidental headbutt.  

In another female bout, Alexis Araiza Mones, 116 ½, won by an eight-round unanimous decision over Ebanie Bridges, 117 ¾. Final judges scores were 74-78, 74-78, and 72-80.

In a six-rounder, Krystal Rosado, 117 ½, won a six-round unanimous decision over Tania Walters, 117: On all scorecards, the judges had it 60-54.

On the undercard, Elise Soto, 127 ¾, won by a second round TKO [1:58] over Liliana Martinez, 128 ¾. The bout was scheduled for six rounds.


In some men’s boxing action:


Yandiel Lozano, 130, won a six-round unanimous decision over Johniel Ramos Cotto, 130 ½. Final judges scores were 58-56, 60-54, and 58-56.

IAbner Figueroa, 117 ½, won a six-rounder by unanimous decision over Edwin Rodriguez, 117 ½. Final judges scores were 58-56, 60-54, and 58-56.

Alexis Chaparro, 159, won a six-round unanimous decision over Augusto Leal Salazar, 158 ¾. Final scores were 60-54, 58-56, and 60-54.

Chris Echevarria, 122, won a six-round unanimous decision over Gabriel Bernardi Cruz, 122 ½. Final judges scores were 57-56, 57-56, and 57-56.

Caleb Tirado, 118 ¼, making his pro debut won a second round TKO [1:59] over Justin Hill, also making his pro debut. The bout was scheduled for four rounds.
