(JUNE 20) GUIYANG CITY, China (June 19, 2026) – Team USA secured two medals on Friday at the World Boxing Cup: China 2026 after Lorenzo Patricio (55 kilograms) and Marcus Luther (65 kilograms) earned quarterfinal victories inside Guiyang Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Guiyang City, China. Patricio and Luther advance to the medal rounds and are each guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

Amateur Female Boxers Action:  Noelle Haro (51 kilograms), Salim Ellis-Bey (60 kilograms), Marie Rosendo (65 kilograms), and Simona Winkler (70 kilograms) also boxed for Team USA on Friday but fell in their respective quarterfinal bouts.

Patricio picked up Team USA’s first victory of the day and secured his second 5-0 victory of the tournament, marking his fourth unanimous decision of 2026. The Waianae, Hawaii, native has continued his impressive international campaign, winning eight of his 10 bouts in 2026. Patricio's latest win came over Mongolia’s Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu, whom he defeated for the second time this year, advancing him into the World Boxing Cup: China 2026 semifinals.

Following Friday’s win, Patricio has officially secured his second medal of 2026 and fourth of his career, and he will now box India’s Nikhil Nikhil in the semifinals on Saturday, June 20. Patricio previously earned silver at the 2026 Strandja Tournament and captured gold medals at the 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships and the 2025 Brandenburg Cup.

Luther was the last American boxer to compete on day five of the tournament, and he did not disappoint the USA audience. Luther controlled the bout with effective body work and earned a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Germany's Mohamed Siala. The Washington, D.C native will now contend for a medal on Saturday against Iran’s Ali Habibinejad in a semifinal bout.

Luther has guaranteed himself a medal at the World Boxing Cup: China 2026, marking the first international medal of the year and the first international medal of his amateur career.

Team USA will see Luther and Patricio back in action Saturday, with Patricio getting the day started for the Stars and Stripes. Patricio will face India’s Nikhil Nikhil in Session 2, Ring A, Bout 3 at approximately 7 a.m. ET. Following Patricio, Luther will look to punch his ticket to the gold-medal bout when he faces Iran's Ali Habibinejad in Session 2, Ring A, Bout 5 at approximately 7:30 a.m. ET.

At the World Boxing Cup: China 2026, USA Boxing will be led by Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and assisted by Elite High Performance Coach Nikki Burleson (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Billy Rafalko (Philadelphia, Pa.)
