This weekend's Boxing Lineup of women's boxing matches Worldwide Who Fought on Many Boxing Shows!

(DEC 16) This past weekend there were notable and numerous boxing matches, that took place worldwide. As the popularity of women's boxing continues to rise, events this weekend highlighted the talent present in the sport, bringing attention to both seasoned fighters and rising stars alike.  On Saturday night these are some of the fights reported so far in the sport.

In Mons, Hainaut, Belgium, in a bout on the undercard matchup, 35-year-old Helene Connart from Tubize, Walloon Brabant, Belgium, 137 1/4. won the bout by a second-round TKO at [1:18 seconds] of the second round, over Her opponent, 24-year-old Adelaide Mary from Marne, France, 134 3/4, . The bout was scheduled for six rounds.

In a higher profile female bout, in Liverpool, United Kingdom, Natasha Jonas, 146, won a unanimous decision over Ivana Habazin, 146.  The two were fighting for the IBF and WBC World Welterweight titles.  Habazin said after the fight, "First of all congratulations to Natasha Jonas on her win.  Further, I would like to announce that this was my last fight. I want to thank my team, my family, my friends and everyone who supported me during these 14 1/2 years. This journey was full of ups and downs, tears, joy, happiness. I've fought 30 fights, won 4 world championship titles and I'm beyond proud of this accomplishment. I would like to thank the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO for giving me the opportunity to fight for their title and I am very proud that I could be their Champion. Boxing has taught me a lot but life is a special gift from God. Exciting to see where this new chapter of my life takes me.
May God bless you all!" Final scores cards were 100-90, 99-91, and 99-92.  There was a second female bout on this card.  Laura Price, 146, of the United Kingdome,  won by a third round TKO over Bexcy Mateus, 145 1/4, of Bogota, Colombia---They were fighting for the IBO World Welterweight title.  

In boxing action in Weihnachtscirkus, Karlsruhe, Germany, in a world title bout, Sarah Bormann, 105, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Jennifer Sabrina Meza, 105.  The two were fighting for the WBO MInimum World title, where Bormann was defending her belt.  Borman had no problem dominating the fight in ten rounds of action with scores of 100-90, 97-93, and 99-91. In a second female bout on the undercard,  Madeleine Mohrhardt, 137 1/4 remained undefeated when she won her bout by a unanimous six-round decision over  Rosa Maria Acosta Carrion, 138 1/2, of Lazio, Italy. Judges scored the bout with 55-59, 55-60, and 55-59.

In Nunoa, Chile, Isis Mascarena, 111 1/2, of Santiago de Chile, won a six-round unanimous decision over Gisela Noelia Quintanilla, 111, of Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The judges scores were 55-58, 55-58, and 54-59.  In a second female bout that was featured on the card was Nicole Araya, 115, of Santiago de Chile, won a six-round bout over Fernanda Soto Figueroa, 114 3/4. 

At the Gimnasio OB Boxing Training, Cúcuta, southpaw Amber Summers, 118, of the Mayweather Gym, in Las Vegas, Nevada, won by a [1:01] fourth round TKO over Katherine Tineo, 121, of Venezuela. The bout was scheduled for six rounds.

In Salle Pablo Neruda, Nimes, Emilie sonvico, 145 1/2, of Ledenon, Gard, France, won a four-round unanimous decision over, Francesca Taylor, 145 1/2, of the United Kingdom.  Scores across the board were 40-36 on all cards.

At the Next Generation Fight Club, Landau, Rheinland-Pfalz, Landau,
Juliane Werner, making her pro debut, defeated by a first round [1:18] TKO over Betina Krumholz, 136 3/4 of Germany.  the bout was scheduled for rounds.

 

In Veracruz, Mexico, in a ten-round bout Prisca Vicot, won a ten-round majority decision over Paulina Cardona. The two were fighting for the WIBA Welterweight belt.   Vicot was making her first defense of her WIBA Belt.  Final judges scores were 95-95, 95-94, and 97-93.

 

At the Salle des Étoiles, Monte Carlo, Beatriz Ferreira, 134, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, she won a ten-round unanimous decision over Licia Boudersa, 130 1/2. Ferreira had little problems winning this bout by scoring all ten-rounds in her favor, with judges scores of 100-90 on all three.  The two were fighting for the IBF World Lightweight title. 

At the Obiekt Rekreacyjno Sportowy Rondo, in Konin, in a six-rounder by points Ewelina Pekalska, 107 1/2, of Poland, won the bout over, now 5-22-0 Judit Hachnold, 107 1/2, of Hungary. Pekalska moved her boxing record to 9-1-0 (1KO). 

On another card in Germany, at the Hallenstadion, in Zurich,  Laura Wollenmann, 111 3/4, of Hendschiken, Switzerland, she won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Karol Mazariegos Gonzalez, 109 3/4. The two were fighting for the WBO International flyweight title.

At the Sala de Eventos Maloka, Florida, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, Yuliana Echeverry, 137 1/4, of Colombia made it a short night for her opponent, Andrea Velasquez, 138 1/2, when Echeverry, also from Colombia, won by a second round TKO [2:15] in a scheduled six round bout.  In a second female bout, Gina Delgado, 154 1/2, moved her undefeated record to 4-0-0 when she won a four-round unanimous decision over Maria Caicado - both out of Colombia.  In a third female bout on the card, Camila Vidal, 126 1/2, won a quick second round KO over Jhoanna Noscue [1:08] in a scheduled six round bout.

At the Salle Pablo Neruda, Nimes, France, featuring one female bout, Emilie Sonvico, 145 1/2, won a four rounder over Francesca Taylor, 145 1/2.  Final judges scores were 40-36 on all cards.

In boxing action at the Next Generation Fight Club, Landau, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, local boxer from this area, Betina Krumholz, 136 1/2, won with a first round TKO over Juliane Werner, 131 1/2, also from Germany who was making her pro debut.

On Friday night, December 13th, the following results have come in thus far...

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Maria Ines Ferreyra, 133 1/4, of Cordoba, Argentina, she won a ten-round unanimous decision over Lizbeth Crespo, 134 1/2, of Chubut, Argentina.  They were fighting for the South American Lightweight title.  The final judges were 90-99, 92-97, and 91-98.

In Ontario, California, at the Toyota Arena, Marlen Esparza, 114, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Arely Mucino, 111 3/4.  Final judges scores were 98-92, 97-93, and 98-92.

At the The Star Event Centre, in Sydney, Australia, Desley Robinson, 158 3/4, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Kaye Scott, 157 1/2.  The two were vying for the IBF Middleweight world title.  Final scores were 97-93, 97-93, 98-92.  In a second female boxing bout on the card, Shannon O'Connell, 117 3/4, of Queensland, Australia, she won by a close split decision over Jasmine Parr, 117 1/2.   The scores were 80-72, 75-77, and 78-74.

In Roma, Italy, local boxer from Italy, Sonia Fracassi, won a ten-round split decision over Amal Wahby, of Montemurlo, Toscana, Italy .  Final 97-93, 93-97, and 96-94.

In Florida, at the Caribe Royale Orlando, in Orlando, Tammara Thibeault, 160, of Quebec, Canada, won a four-round unanimous decision over Natasha Spence, 158 1/2, of Ontario, Canada.  final judges scores were 40-36 on all cards.  This bout was scheduled for three minute rounds.

At the
TET MultiSports Centre, in Stratford, Sequita Hemingway,  of New Zealand won an eight-round bout by unanimous decision over Marie Hunt.  They were fighting in the heavyweight division.  Final judges scores were 79-73, 78-73 and 78-73.

In York Hall, Bethnal Green, United Kingdom, southpaw Julia Lee, won a four rounder by points over Sara Orszagi.  Final score was 40-36.

In some United States action, at the Chumash Casino, in Santa Ynez, California, Perla Bazaldua, 114 1/4, from Los Angeles, California, won her pro debut over Mollie Backowski, 112, of Colorado, USA.

It is encouraging to see the  increasing number of female bouts featured on boxing cards around the world. This trend highlights the ongoing growth of women's boxing as a significant and respected part of the sport.  Covering the sport for 26 plus years on WBAN, it was not always like this and we hope that it continues to gain in popularity.
