(OCT 24)  The World Boxing Council and its President, Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, have announced their full endorsement and support for the Mexican documentary “Rómpete la Madre,” a project that celebrates the trajectory, courage, and impact of women’s boxing.

The documentary, produced by Mariana Caballero and directed by Daniela Uriza, is a profound testament that honors the effort of the women who have redefined the sport.

“We are extremely proud of the work done by Mariana Caballero and Daniela Uriza. Their documentary is a mirror that reflects the heart of our sport,” stated Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar.

“This project goes beyond the gloves; it captures the Love and Respect that the community feels for boxing.”

The Voice of the Champions and the Promoter

“Rómpete la Madre” stands out for featuring the direct participation of ring icons such as Ibeth “La Roca” Zamora and Guadalupe “Lupita” Martínez, whose careers are a beacon of inspiration for new generations of boxers.

A key narrative point of the documentary is the vision of Mariana Caballero, one of the few female boxing promoters, whose struggle ‘outside the ring’ (“abajo del ring”) was fundamental to staging the event with the same name as the documentary. This event was of great importance, achieving global transmission and visibility that propelled Mexican women’s boxing into a new era.

WBC Confirms Institutional Support

The WBC, dedicated in its mission to dignify and promote women’s boxing worldwide, confirms its personal and institutional support for the distribution of “Rómpete la Madre.”

“Testimonials like this are vital to educating and motivating audiences about the true value and strength of our athletes,” concluded President Sulaimán.

The WBC wishes the producers the greatest success on the festival circuit and in national and international markets, including prestigious stages such as Berlin, Sundance, South by Southwest (SXSW), and the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).
