LAS VEGAS, NV (June 18, 2026) — Clark County
prosecutors have formally filed multiple felony charges against undefeated
boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. following allegations that he issued a
bounced check for a luxury jewelry purchase.
According to unsealed Clark County court documents, the charges stem from a New
Year's Eve transaction on December 31, 2024. Mayweather allegedly utilized a
Wells Fargo bank account check to purchase a $200,000 Audemars Piguet timepiece
from Gold and Beyond, an upscale boutique located in Las Vegas. The check was
subsequently rejected due to insufficient funds.
The criminal complaint levels two severe counts against the high-profile
fighter:
Theft, value $100,000 or greater (a Category B felony in Nevada, carrying a
potential prison sentence of 1 to 20 years)
ESPN wrote, “Boxer Floyd Mayweather is facing two felony charges alleging theft
and "intent to defraud" by passing a bad check to purchase a $200,000 watch in
Las Vegas, according to Nevada court records. Mayweather was not present for a
Clark County court hearing Monday and was instead represented by his counsel.
Mayweather's official charges are "theft, value $100,000 or greater" and "draw
or pass check with intent to defraud, value $1,200 or greater."

Drawing or passing a check with intent to defraud
(carrying a potential prison sentence of 1 to 4 years) The state contends that
Mayweather knowingly negotiated the high-value check with the full awareness
that his account lacked the necessary capital, property, or credit line to cover
the transaction.
Rather than executing an arrest warrant, the Clark County court issued a formal
summons. At the initial hearing, Mayweather’s legal representation appeared on
his behalf. The defense team has publicly disputed the criminal nature of the
filing, categorizing the incident as a private civil and contractual
disagreement rather than a criminal offense.
The court has scheduled the next formal hearing for September 2026. This
criminal litigation emerges alongside several other ongoing financial pressures
for Mayweather, including a substantial federal tax lien and an unrelated civil
fraud lawsuit involving his former business manager.
