LAS VEGAS, NV- The countdown has officially
begun! Mark your calendars for April 4-5, 2025, because the much-anticipated
International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) event is set to return to Las
Vegas at the vibrant Orleans Hotel & Casino. This year, the “Night of the Stars
II” will be an exciting two-day celebration as we honor the elite athletes and
remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to women’s
boxing.
For over a decade, the IWBHF has played a pivotal role in recognizing the
talents and achievements of female boxers from around the globe. This landmark
event represents more than just a celebration of women boxers and those who do
so much outside the ring to support the sport; it’s a tribute to the
dedication and perseverance of those who are honored.
With this year marking the 12th anniversary, the excitement is palpable as we
look forward to honoring a new class of inductees and Special Award Recipients.
The highlight of the two-day event will be the induction ceremony, where we will
unveil this year’s honorees who have been selected for their outstanding
contributions both inside and outside the ring.
Our elite IWBHF class of 2025 includes the following:
Jackie
Nava, retired multi-world champion, Mexico; Vaia Zaganas,
retired multi-world champion, Canada, Kina Malpartida, retired
multi-world champion, defending her belt five times, Peru,
living in the USA: Jennifer Han, retired world champion, USA;
Shelly Vincent, retired multi-world champion, USA; Helga Risoy,
pre-modern boxer, 1990’s, Norway; Diana Prazak, retired
multi-world champion, Australia, lives in USA; Kara Ro, retired
world champion, Canada; Frida Wallberg, retired world champion,
Sweden; Kathy Williams, retired world champion, Canada; Yvonne Caples, retired world champion, India, lives in USA;
Jolene
Blackshear, retired world champion, USA; Yessica Chavez, retired
world champion, Mexico; Stephanie Jaramillo, pre-modern boxer,
pre 2004, USA; Jill Matthews, retired multi-world champion,
pre-modern boxer 1990’s, USA; Carlette Ewell, retired
multi-world champion, USA; Yvonne Barkley, Pioneer female boxer
from the 1970s-1980s, USA; Linda Platt, pioneer, one of the
first females as a high-profile photographer; and Don King and
Diane Fischer, long-time boxing promoters, USA; we have
our
2025 Lifetime Achievement Award
recipient that is Daisy
Lang, of Bulgaria! Daisy was inducted into the IWBHF
in 2017; and lastly, We have our Special Award Recipient of
our 2025 "Beyond the Ropes" Brentnoll Bovell,
who has been a boxing official since the fall of 2003. He
has
received 11 outstanding referee awards, which he
earned at several different National Boxing tournaments
throughout the US, and more!
In addition, our four (4) Trailblazers who are our Special Award Recipients
is Margaret McGregor; Patricia Trejo; Patricia
Orr; and Leaping Lena! Every one of our Pioneer
Trailblazers have all made a distinct mark in the history of women's
boxing---and every one of our 2025 Trailblazer's have completely unique
backgrounds as a pioneer.
On our Pre-celebration that will take place on
Friday, April 4, 2025, we celebrate our special award recipients
who are are the “Women Cops Who Box”! We have 12 "Women
Cops Who Box" being honored and celebrated this day. In the first day of our
event, Friday, on April 4, 2025, in the Salon Ballroom from 1:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. is a day filled with honoring and
celebrating our Special Award Recipients. We will be
honoring our first responders, "WOMEN COPS WHO BOX", that
include twelve (12) female boxers that have worked in law
enforcement either presently or in the past.
Women Cops Who Box: The Special Award
Recipients are the following: Melissa Cooper,
Alex Love, Tracy Byrd, Stephanie Han, Terri Moss, Ann
Marie Carrizales, Kathy Williams, Kyana Williams,
Melanie Costa, Nora Daigle, Nisa Rodriguez,
and Irma Garcia Tor.
The Induction ceremony/Dinner event will take place on Saturday,
April 5, 2025, the Grand Finale of our "semi-formal"
Induction Ceremony and dinner. Saturday night will be in
the Mardi-Gra Ballroom. This night we will
celebrate our 2025 IWBHF Inductees, and some special award
recipients. . It’s not just an event; it’s a weekend where
fans and athletes come together to share stories, inspire one
another, and strengthen the community and networking.
