Undisputed World Bantamweight champion Cherneka Johnson will defend her title on Netflix
by Benjamin Watt
October 13, 2025

(OCT 13) New Zealand Born Undisputed World Bantamweight champion Cherneka Johnson (Ngāti Ranginui) will defend her title against Amanda Galle on the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis undercard on Netflix.

On November 14th at Kaseya Center, Miami, Florida, Cherneka Johnson will make her first Undisputed World title defence against American highly ranked boxer Amanda Galle. This is live on Netflix as part of the Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis exhibition undercard.

Johnson signed with Jake Paul's MVP Promotions before her undisputed world title win back July 11th at Madison Square Garden. She made history becoming the first New Zealand born and first Maori to become Undisputed World champion.

Johnson has always been a history maker for New Zealand being second Maori ever to win a world title in April 2022, being the first Maori ever to successfully defend a world title in October 2022, being the first Maori ever to win a world title in two sanctioning bodies.

Johnson already has had a busy year defending her WBA World Bantamweight title in March, winning the Undisputed title in July, now defending the Undisputed title in November with a perfect end to 2025.

She will be defending the title against a high ranked opponent and the current IBO World Bantamweight champion Amanda Galle. For those who might be confused, in the sport of boxing, to become an undisputed world champion, you need to hold the WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC world titles at the same time to be considered an undisputed champion. The IBO world title might have a lot of history, but it isn’t considered a major world title.

Amanda Galle is currently ranked 4th on Boxrec, 4th in IBF and 5th in WBA. On top of that being the IBO World champion.

Galle began her career in 2019, three years after Johnson debuted. Galle is currently undefeated with 12 wins and 1 draw. She became the Canadian national super bantamweight champion in 2022, winning against Tania Walters, who is known for fighting Mea Motu with Motu dislocating her shoulder in the first round but still winning the fight.

Galle's biggest win of her career was winning the IBO world bantamweight title in 2023 against the tough multiple time world title challenger Niorkis Carreno. The two would fight again exactly one year later with Galle successfully defending the title.

This will be a tough opponent for Cherneka Johnson, however, Johnson comes into this fight with an edge with more experience, coming off two stoppage wins in a row, and coming into this fight with both the height and reach advantage.
