ORLANDO, FL — Women’s boxing will take center stage on August 8 as undisputed
bantamweight world champion Cherneka Johnson defends her titles against
undefeated former unified champion Dina Thorslund at the Caribe Royale Resort in
Orlando, Florida.

The highly anticipated championship bout will headline the MVPW-05 fight card
and will be broadcast live to a global audience on ESPN.
Johnson enters the ring as the premier fighter in the 118-pound division after
securing undisputed status with a historic victory over Shurretta Metcalf in
2025.
Representing Australia and New Zealand, Johnson boasts a professional record of
19-2-0 (8KO). This blockbuster event marks her ultimate test as she risks all of
her world title belts against the division's former ruler.

Standing across the ring is the undefeated Danish star Dina Thorslund, who
carries a pristine record of 24-0-0 (9KO). Thorslund previously held the unified
championship before vacating her titles due to pregnancy in 2025, a hiatus that
allowed Johnson to ascend to the undisputed division.

After a successful return to action in 2026 where she captured the WBC interim
featherweight title, Thorslund is cutting back down to bantamweight to reclaim
the championship status she never lost in the ring.
