(APRIL 21) On Saturday night on April 19th, in the opening bout of the Arena Wars fight card at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Oregon, there was a female bout scheduled for four rounds in the featherweight division, featuring unbeaten Kathlyn Martinez Arnold, 125 1/4,  (4-0 2KO) and Tiziana Olmo, 124 3/4, who was looking for her first win as a professional boxer.

Both women threw a lot of punches in the opening round, most of them targeting the other’s body. Olmo moved to keep Arnold just off her left shoulder to catch her with a jab and follow that with a power right. Arnold threw combinations, following her jab with lefts to the body. Olmo kept the distance between the two tight, attempting to neutralize Arnold’s power.

The second round saw both women throwing combinations, usually starting by targeting the body and following that with a shot aimed at the other’s chin. As the round progressed, Olmo shot her left at Arnold’s head while Arnold shot her left at Olmo’s body and followed that with a right to the chin.

Olmo had a solid third round as she was able to land a number of shots to Arnold’s body. Arnold weathered the assault and continued to shoot punches targeting Olmo’s body.

Late in the round, Arnold was able to score behind a lead right followed by her left, both targeting Olmo’s body, though Olmo’s scoring body shots began to mount.

Olmo landed the heavier shots in the closing round, many of then to Arnold’s body. Though Arnold threw more punches in the round, they were not all effective as Olmo blocked many of them.

After four rounds of an action packed bout, one judge scored the fight 39-37 for Arnold, the other two scored it even at 38. The fight would end in a majority draw.
