Brittany Sims Claims the WBA International Bantamweight Title Over Natalia Francesca
by Sue TL Fox

(SEPT 9) On a night that featured a women's boxing bout, The bout was the mainliner at the event. Brittany Sims, from Salem, Oregon, USA,  faced off against Spain’s Natalia Francesca. With records of 9-3-0 (4 KOs) for Sims and 7-6-0 (0 KOs) for Francesca, both fighters stepped onto the scales at an identical weight of 116 ½ pounds.  The event took place on September 5, 2025, at the Wind Creek Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Brittany Sims won the fight and captured the WBA International Bantamweight title. The bout for Sims marked a significant milestone in Sims’ boxing career.

WBA Supervisor Kina Malpartida—herself a retired world champion and a recent inductee into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame—oversaw the bout, adding to the prestige of the event.

The WBA reported that from the beginning of the fight, Sims was showcasing her superior skills and accuracy throughout the fight.

They said the following, “Francesca pressed forward with grit and determination, trying to close the distance and apply pressure, but she couldn’t land the kind of punches that would turn the tide. The Spaniard did enjoy some bright moments in the middle rounds—particularly the sixth and seventh—but Sims stayed composed and closed the show with authority.”

Judges’ scores ultimately reflected Sims' dominance in the ring, awarding her the victory with scores of 99-91, 99-91, and 96-94. T

Adding a unique flair to the bout was the presence of referee Sparkle Lee, a retired police officer and a distinguished Inductee of the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame since 2015.

While some may humorously note that this title victory may not appear on BoxRec, it’s important to recognize the significance of the achievement itself. For Sims, this win is not just about titles or records; it’s about hard work, perseverance, and achieving a lifelong dream.
