Tonight Lauren Price defends World Titles against Challenger Stephanie Piñeiro
by Sue TL Fox
April 4, 2026

(APRIL 4) Tonight at the Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff, unified welterweight world champion Lauren Price MBE (9-0, 2 KOs) defends her WBA, WBC, IBF, IBO, in the main event against undefeated Puerto Rican challenger Stephanie Piñeiro (10-0). The two will be fighting in a 10-round welterweight clash marks Price’s long-awaited return to home soil in Wales as a world champion.

Price, the Olympic gold medalist is looking to maintain her perfect professional record and build momentum for a potential undisputed fight against Mikaela Mayer or a super fight with Claressa Shields later in 2026 (If they can get in the same weight class).

This is Piñeiro's first professional bout outside of Puerto Rico. She has stated she aims to "take those belts back to Puerto Rico" and silence the home crowd in Cardiff. The bout will be streamed on DAZN, live on UK Broadcast on BBC.

It has been over a year since Price fought last when she defeated Natasha Jonas in a ten-round bout winning the fight by unanimous decision for the IBF, IBO, and WBC Welterweight world titles.

Stephanie’s last fight took place in November 2025, winning the bout by a 10-round unanimous decision over Anahi Ester Sanchez.

During the weigh-in on Friday, April 3, 2026, Lauren Price and Stephanie Piñeiro exchanged final warnings before their unified world welterweight title fight at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff.

Stephanie Piñeiro: After tipping the scales slightly heavier at 146.4 lbs, Piñeiro expressed her intent to cause an upset: "You see tomorrow and you're going to hear 'and the new.' I'm sorry. I'm going for that upset and you're going to see tomorrow".

"I'm proud to represent Puerto Rico and be part of that history myself... I want to bring [another championship] and this is my chance to join that great level of fighter in the history of Puerto Rico".

"Even if they do boo me on Saturday that's energy for me, I like the noise... I've studied her and got obsessed with this fight".

Lauren Price: Price, who weighed in at 146.3 lbs to the sound of the Welsh anthem 'Yma O Hyd', remained confident in her defense:

"She's a very good opponent but you know, I believe in myself... I'll be getting my hand raised tomorrow night and keeping them belts in Wales".

"I do believe I'm a level above [Piñeiro] and that there's more to come from me as well".

Addressing rumors of a future mega-fight with Claressa Shields, Price noted: "I want to be a multi-weight world champion and I want the biggest fights".

Claressa Shields is expected to be ringside for tonight’s event. Price has been making noise about fighting Shields at 160 lbs. Which if Price has been fighting at 145 lbs., moving way out of weight class will be questionable, there is a reason boxing does have weight classes, or have we all forgotten that little fact.
