(JULY 31) Female Puerto Rican professional boxer and law enforcement officer. She currently lives in Miami Dade and serving the Broward County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy. Her current boxing record is 8-1-0 (2KO) She has won the NBA Super Welterweight Champion, and WBC Latin champion.  Carranza told WBAN, "I also own a boxing gym in Fort Lauderdale that makes five years in September. I’m extremely involved in the community on many levels. From book bag drives, toy drives, feeding our homeless population, and so much more. I’ve dedicated myself to training but also to my community." "As a law enforcement officer, I want to break barriers and show that women can excel in traditionally male-dominated fields, just as I have in boxing.  Today, I continue to train, compete, and protect, " added Carranza. (JULY 30) PARIS – Alyssa Mendoza (Caldwell, Idaho) earned her first Olympic victory this morning at the Paris 2024 Games with a hard-fought, 3-2 split decision. In a sport of grit and grind, Mendoza had to dig deep and steal Tuesday’s win away from Tajikistan’s Mijgona Samadova. (JULY 29) PARIS  – Joshua Edwards’ (Houston, Texas) and Jajaira Gonzalez's (Glendora, Calif.) 2024 Paris Olympic Games journeys concluded as both boxers experienced setbacks on Monday, July 29. Joshua Edwards made his Olympic debut early Monday morning but unfortunately fell short to Italy’s Diego Lenzi in a tightly contested bout. Edwards went down 4-1 after the first round and bounced back by winning the second and third rounds, 3-2. However, his comeback wasn’t enough as he lost by points in a 3-1 split decision.  Full Story

Jajaira Gonzalez silenced the home crowd after a 4-0 victory in Olympics

 

(JULY 28) PARIS – Jajaira Gonzales (Glendale, Calif.) secured Team USA’s first victory yesterday at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as she defeated the 2016 gold medalist in Estelle Mossely out of France. “I heard the crowd booing me and it motivated me to go in the ring and have fun,” Jajaira Gonzalez stated after her first Olympic victory.   Full Story

Claressa Shields Easily Takes Opponent out in the Second Round by TKO

(JULY 28)  Last night at the Little Caesars Arena, in Detroit, Michigan Claressa "T-Rex" Shields, 174 3/4, of Flint, Michigan, moved her record to 15-0-0 (3KO) after she quickly dispatched her opponent Vanessa LePage-Joanisse,174 1/2, now 7-2- (2KO), by TKO in the second round.  Shields won the WBC, WBF heavyweight titles, and the vacant WBO light heavyweight title.  Shields also created even more history in her pristine boxing career by becoming a multi-world champion in four divisions. Team USA Learns Path To Gold --Olympic Boxing Draw

(JULY 26) PARIS – Team USA will have eight boxers competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. These eight boxers learned their paths to gold, including their first-round opponents during Thursday’s Olympic Games tournament draw. The Paris 2024 Olympic boxing tournament has 13 weight divisions, seven men’s and six women’s. Competition in Paris will begin on Saturday, July 27, before concluding on Saturday, August 10, at the Roland-Garros Stadium and the North Paris Arena.  Full Story

(JULY 25) What an amazing weekend in Tampa, Florida where Canadian boxers Natasha ‘The Nightmare’ Spence and Lucas ‘The Prince’ Bahdi made their mark on this massive sold out MVP (Most Valuable Promotions) Fight Card Saturday July 20th. Chantelle Cameron Wins by a Majority Decision over Elhem Mekhaled in vying for the Interim WBC World Title

(JULY 21)  Last night at the Resorts World Arena, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in a thrilling showdown, Chantelle Cameron, 139.4, of Northhampton, UK,  emerged victorious, securing the Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Title with a ten-round majority decision over Elhem Mekhaled, 138.4, of Paris, France. The final judges scores were 95-95, 99-92, and 98-92, which was a bit odd.  Cameron moved her record to 19-1-0 (8KO's) and Mekhaled is now 17-3-0 (3KO).  Full Story

(JULY 19) WBAN received the latest update on the World Boxing Cup event for 2024, that the event will take place at the UG Arena, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from September 23-26, 2024. The event will go for four-day of competition.  As stated in the press release, "The four-day competition is the first World Boxing Cup event to be held in Asia and is being hosted by the Mongolian Boxing Federation and World Boxing." (JULY 18) This Saturday, July 20th, at the Amalie Arena, in Tampa, Florida, there is an interesting matchup on this card.  We have Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, 46-2-1 (30KO), of now Carolina, Puerto Rico, formerly from New York,  fighting Stevie Morgan, 14-1-0 (13 KO), of Tampa, Florida,  in a ten round non-titled bout.  This last week she had an online interview that we published on this article.  Serrano talks about this fight on Saturday and also about her upcoming fight with Katie Taylor.  Full Story

Skye Nicolson Wins easily to successfully defend her WBC Title

(JULY 14) Last night at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, Australia's Skye Nicolson, 125 1/2,  successfully defended her WBC Featherweight title when she easily defeated Dyana Vargas, 125 1/2, from the Dominican Republic. Final judges’ scores were 100-90 on all cards.  Nicolson remains undefeated with a 11-0-0 (1KO) record, and Vargas is now 19-2-0 (12KO).  Full Story

Daniels to defend her IBF World title against world-ranked boxer in possible last fight in New Zealand

Update on Alejandra "la Fenix" Ayala after being seriously Injured after her fight with Rankin?  Where is the help from this Sport?

(JULY 8) This week WBAN received an update on female boxer Alejandra “la Fenix” Ayala by Sinéad Babington who said that she finally had gotten up to Tijuana to see Alejandra and see her gym that she had opened before going to Scotland to fight over two years ago.  Babington said the following: In what was a fight of a lifetime for this talented boxer, that took place on  May 13th at the SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland, super welterweight Hannah Rankin, 153 1/2, won by a ten-round TKO over  Ayala. The two were fighting for the WBA Super Welterweight and the IBO Super Welterweight titles.  According to news sources, she was taken to a hospital immediately after the fight and had an undisclosed surgery.  Some media sources said it was a Hematoma, and we have not verified that information.  Full Story

(JULY 4) This will be a nice announcement for fairly unknown female boxer Joana Chavarria Lopez who is WBAN's top pick for July Fighter of the Month.  She reigns out of Valle, Mexico City, Mexico, who recently fought Zulina Munoz, with came into the fight with a  boxing record of 54-5-2, to Chavarria's 5-4-4 record going into the fight. Carranza Wins by Unanimous Decision Over LaVigne

(JULY 2) On Saturday, June 29th, at the Miccosukee Casino & Resort in Miami, Florida  Elia “Soul Snatcher” Carranza of Miami, Florida won a unanimous decision over Kaitlin LaVigne of Overland Park, Kansas in a six-round bout. Although it was classified as a super welterweight fight, the boxers’ weights were not within that weight class. Carranza weighed in at 157.2 pounds, which is middleweight whereas LaVigne weighed in 162.4 pounds which is super middleweight.  Full Story
