(JUNE 27) Periodically, I examine ratings and the group of
female boxers in various weight classes. Recently, I became
curious about the state of the heavyweight division in 2024. In
past articles, I discussed female boxers in the heavyweight
division who were ranked in the top ten with having few fights
to be ranked. So let’s take a look at the heavyweight
division in women’s boxing.
It's definitely a much stronger
group of female boxers in this division compared to the past
years ago.
So let's take a look at it today:
gathering the sources from other Internet ratings, this is what
is there for the top ten---spoiler alert---not looking like the
healthiest division in the sport.
Many of the fighters in this division have had limited activity,
with some even being inactive for several years. It's clear that
there is still progress to be made in developing a robust and
thriving heavyweight division for female boxers.
While there are a few promising talents in the division, the
lack of depth and consistent competition makes it difficult for
these fighters to truly showcase their skills and make a
significant impact on the sport. So without further
ado, here is a list of the top ten:
#1 - Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse:
Boxing record: 7-1-0 (2KO)
Background: She has been fighting since 2016, and
is a WBC world champion as of 2024. In 2023, she fought
three times with opponent's boxing records of 3-1-0, 1-3-1, and
2-1-1. She had a almost five years of inactivity, and
fought once in 2017 against an opponent with a 8-0-0 record.
In 2016, she fought three times with opponent's records of
1-1-0, 2-1-0, and 2-0-0.
#2 – Roseanna Cox:
Boxing Record – 2-0-0 (1KO)
Background: Her two opponent's boxing records were 1-6-0
and 7-21-0.

– Razel Mohammad: Boxing
Record – 3-1-2 (0KO)
Background: Fought once in 2023 – loss; two fights in 2022 –
Opponents records were 2-0-0 and 2-10-2. Fought the same
opponent three times – Lillian Molada, two fights in 2021 – with
two of these fights with Molada, with Molada’s boxing record for
those two fights – 2-9-2, and 2-9-1. One fight in 2019, that was
a draw with opponent’s record of 7-4-0.
#4 – Tinta Smith – Boxing Record 1-2-1 (0KO)
Background: two fights in 2024 – opponent’s records going into
the fight were 2-5-0, and 1-7-0. Two fights in 2022 – she lost
both fights with opponent’s boxing records of 2-4-1 and 5-2-2.
#5 Sequita Hemingway Boxing record: 2-6-0 (0KO)
Background: Fought twice in 2024, against opponents with records
of 0-2-1 and 3-0-0. Fought three times in 2023 – opponents
records were 2-0-0, pro debuter, and 6-2-2, she fought once in
2022, with opponents records of 5-1-1 and 4-2-2.
#6 – Minellis Blanco – Boxing Record 5-0-0 (5KO)
Background: Fought once in 2024 against opponent with boxing
record of 9-6-0, in 2023 she fought four times, with opponent’s
records of 0-1-0, 2-5-1, pro debuter, and 8-5-0.
#7- Danielle Perkins – boxing record 4-0-0 (2KO)
Background: Fought once in 2024, opponent’s record was 3-2-0,
fought once in 2021 with opponent’s record of 2-1-1, and two
fights in 2020, with opponent’s records of 1-0-0 and 2-0-1.
#8 – Bolatito Oluwole – boxing record 9-0-0 (5KO)
Background: She had four fights in 2023, her opponent’s boxing
records were 1-1-0, 2-0-0, 0-2-0, and 0-1-0. Three fights
in 2022, with opponent's boxing records of 1-0-0, 0-1-0, and pro
debut. In 2021 she had two fights with opponent's boxing
records of pro debut and 0-1-0.
#9 Timea Nagy – Boxing Record 3-3-0 (3KO)
Background: She had one fight in 2024. In 2023 she had three
fights, with opponent’s boxing records of 5-1-0, 0-3-0, and
0-3-0. In 2022, she had two fights, with opponent’s record of
0-2-0 and a pro debuter.
#10 – Lorena Carrillo – Boxing Record – 2-6-1 (2KO)
Background: She had one fight in 2024 , with opponent’s record
of 3-0-0. She had two fights in 2022 – with opponent’s record of
11-3-3 and 9-3-3. Then she had a huge gap of time of not
fighting since 2007. She fought three times in 2007, with
opponent’s records of 3-0-1, 2-3-0, and a pro debuter. She had
two fights in 2006, with opponent’s records of 4-0-1 and 1-0-0.
