Chantelle Cameron Wins by a Majority Decision over Elhem Mekhaled in vying for the Interim WBC World Title
by Sue TL Fox
July 21, 2024

(JULY 21)  Last night at the Resorts World Arena, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in a thrilling showdown, Chantelle Cameron, 139.4, of Northhampton, UK,  emerged victorious, securing the Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Title with a ten-round majority decision over Elhem Mekhaled, 138.4, of Paris, France. The final judges scores were 95-95, 99-92, and 98-92, which was a bit odd.  Cameron moved her record to 19-1-0 (8KO's) and Mekhaled is now 17-3-0 (3KO).

The win not only solidifies Cameron's position as a top contender in the super  lightweight division but also sets the stage for an eagerly anticipated showdown with undisputed champion Katie Taylor. With this impressive victory, Cameron has sent a clear message to the boxing world that she is ready to challenge the best in the business.

Highlights of the fight last night:

Cameron's rise in the sport has been nothing short of remarkable. With each victory, she has gained more confidence and momentum, solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with.

With this win last night Cameron----I am sure will be wanting a trilogy match with Katie Taylor.  Time will tell on that one, since Taylor is set to fight in a rematch against Amanda Serrano!
