The weights were the following:  Holly Holm, 143 1/4; Ann Marie Saccurato, 141; Jackie Chavez, 122; Lisa Brown, 121.9; Kelsey Jeffries, 123, Rhonda Luna, 124. (MAR 15)  Nearly six years ago, in July of 2001, WBAN ran a story on Sylvia Torres, who was  82 years old at the time.  We had learned about Torres through a television program that was aired in Germany that featured light-hearted stories from around the world. According to that televised story, Silvia told her story about her life-long involvement and love for boxing from the age seven to in her 80's.  Full Story

(MAR 11) Saturday night at the Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington,  Dakota Stone out-boxed Tricia Turton through the middle rounds of an eight-round middleweight bout to claim the Washington State Boxing Council (WSBC) Championship.  Stone, though pursued throughout the first round, was able to gain the slight edge by landing the more accurate punches. (MAR 4) Last night in Soumagne (Belgium), Nathalie Toro, 62.7kg., of Belgium, won a six-round bout (points) over Loly Muñoz, 61.4 kg., of Barcelona, Spain.  Toro improves her record to 15-1-1 (6KO), and Muñoz is now 4-3-1 (3 KOs).

Twenty minutes weren't enough to separate challenger Jackie Nava of Mexico and WBC champion Alejandra Oliveras of Argentina last night at the Orfeo Superdomo in Córdoba (Central Argentina) and the judges couldn't either, so the local girl keeps the title. (MAR 3) In what was probably the biggest male fight for Kenya so far, Kenyan Boxer Sande Otieno, now 12-0 won a TKO over Ghanaian Wilson Lanquawe in an exciting WBC
International Super bantamweight fight. The Kenyan
southpaw came in strongly from the start and overwhelmed the Ghanaian in the 3rd round. Referee Alfred Buqwana stopped the fight after Wilson had received more than 10 punches without response.  Full Story
