(MAR 14) Octavius James, CEO of One In A
Million Inc., has announced an impressive undercard of local
standouts to support Mia St. John’s main event bout on April 20th at
the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, IN. Jimmy “The Fighting
School Teacher” Holmes (14-0-2, 7 KOs) of DeMotte, Don Moore
(10-0-1, 8 KOS) of Gary and LaPorte’s Cook brothers, light
heavyweight Nick (14-1-1, 8 KOs) and super middle weight Jason (pro
debut), will round out the five-bout under card for the “Fist of
Fury” event.
As previously announced, Gary’s undefeated 20-year-old women’s
boxing sensation “Merciless” Mary McGee (8-0, 4 KOs) will fight in
the evening’s co-main event.
“Mia has done a lot for women’s boxing and I respect her for that,”
McGee said. “But this is my house and she’ll know it when she hears
all of my fans in the audience cheering for me. If Mia wins her
fight, I want to fight her next.”
Fighting on the same professional card for the first time will be
brothers Nick and Jason Cook of La Porte. Both are known to have
great technical boxing skills with the tendency to brawl when
necessary.
“This is the perfect one-two punch for area fight fans,” James said.
“ One In A Million Inc. is looking forward to featuring the Cook’s
fighting together for the first time and for many fights to come.”
Younger brother Nick faces off against Indianapolis’ Jeff Baker
(14-3, 7 KOs). “Since we were boys fighting as amateurs, Jason and I
always talked about fighting together and winning world
championships together,” Nick said. “We’re looking forward to
fighting on the same card for the first time at Star Plaza on April
20th.”
Making his professional debut, super middleweight Jason Cook brings
an extensive amateur record to the ring having won the Chicago
Golden Gloves championship at heavyweight and, last year, losing a
controversial decision in the light heavyweight championship bout to
highly touted prospect Cedric Agnew. “I’m in the best shape of my
life,” Jason said. “It’s time to get started on winning a world
title.”
Also featured, in separate bouts, northwest Indiana fan favorite
Jimmy “The Fighting School Teacher” Holmes (14-0-2, 7 KOs) of
DeMotte, IN and Gary’s undefeated super featherweight prospect Don
Moore (10-0-1, 8 KOs) who continues his comeback.
On her recent Chicagoland publicity blitz, Mia St. John was
interviewed by the Chicago Tribune, Sun Times, The Times, Gary Post
Tribune, Hoy, La Raza, ABC7, NBC5’s “Sports Sunday,”
The Fox Morning News, Univision, Telemundo, WOJO/Univision radio’s
#1 morning show “El Pistolero,” Power 92’s urban morning radio
personality Trey the Chocolate Jock and nationally
syndicated “Mancow’s Morning Madhouse.” Additional interviews were
hosted at Playboy’s world headquarters on Chicago’s Lake Shore
Drive.
“Do not wait to buy tickets for this card,” promoter Octavius James
said. “Mia is taking Chicagoland by storm. New sponsors are calling
to get on board. With Mia in the main event and five terrific bouts
on the under card, this show will sell out early.”
Chicagoland’s premier entertainment venue, The Star Plaza Theatre in
Merrillville is conveniently located just 45 minutes from Chicago.
