(MAR 1) Lemoore, CA-“We are proud to
announce that we have signed an exclusive multi-fight, multi-year
promotional agreement with NABF and WBC Interim Straw weight
Champion, Carina “La Reina” Moreno that will allow us to use our
resources and experience in promoting women’s boxing to help propel
Carina’s career to that next level.
We are excited and thankful that Carina
and her co-Managers Rick Noble and Repo Ric have placed their faith
in us to assist Carina in achieving her long term strategic goals in
the sport of boxing.” Stated Christian Printup, Director of
Entertainment for the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, CA.
Moreno, coming off a decisive 10 round unanimous decision win over
the very skilled Suszannah Warner last Thursday night now sets her
sights on Nanako Kikuchi and resting the Full WBC Championship from
the Japanese tactician’s grip. That fight is tentatively set for May
17th in Lemoore.
“ I was surprised to meet Ms. Kikuchi and her representative Mr.
Sakuma at last Thursday’s event. I had not known they were going to
come in to watch the action and witness firsthand who they would
have to fight within 90 days or lose their Championship. We had
discussions leading up to the bout in regards to some terms of a
potential fight and I am glad to say that we have reached terms and
that Mr. Sakuma, Kikuchi’s manager has a contract in hand for the
May 17th fight.
There is a two-week window of
opportunity to have the very generous offer signed and sent back to
us or else we will have to explore other options for Carina on May
17th. But I am very confident that Ms. Kikuchi is eager to prove to
the world that she is the rightful owner of the WBC World
Championship and Carina is very excited about having a say in that
matter!” Said Printup.
Also, on last Thursday’s card Jessica “Ragin” Rakoczy won the vacant
WBC World Lightweight Championship over the very game and classy
Kelli Cofer via 5th round technical decision. An accidental head
butt forced the bout to go to the score cards which showed that
Rakoczy had gotten off to a very strong start and won each round in
resounding fashion. Rakoczy, now stands at 26-2, with 10 KO’s and
has blossomed under the tutelage of Dewey Cooper as her trainer.
With the win, Rakoczy becomes the first two time WBC Women’s
Lightweight Champion and has beaten a virtual who’s who of women’s
boxing: Layla McCarter, Gloria Ramirez, Lisa Lewis, Mia St., John,
Jane Couch, Belinda Laracuente, Terri Blair and now Kelli Cofer.
“Well, Ann Saccurato is the WBC Interim Lightweight Champion and we
will wait to see what happens between her and Holm on the 22nd.
Obviously, we are obligated to fight her if she chooses to remain at
lightweight, if not and depending on the outcome of her fight with
Holm Jessica will be ready to go May 17th against the highest rated
and available contender.”
WBAN Comments: WBAN would like to see Rakoczy fight Chevelle
Hallback. That would be a fantastic matchup, so hopefully we
will see that on Rakoczy's "Who's Who" for fighting the top
women in the sport. Hallback has defeated McCarter and
Laracuente, so it may be the way to go for her next fight.
