(SEPT 29) WBAN received two open challenges from boxers Laura “Lady Ram” Ramsey and Vonda Ward. At the time WBAN knew that an impending opponent was going to fight Ali, but it needed to be firmed up. (SEPT 24) It is with great sadness to announce that Shelby Walker, at the age of 31 years old, has passed away.
On Shelby's website, Larry Goldberg wrote the following, earlier today:  "I just got the news a little while ago and I am numb. Shelby Walker was found dead - believed to have overdosed on some pain medication last night. This story is confirmed. She was a wonderful person who inspired many people. (SEPT 23) Last night at the Southport Sharks Club on the Gold Coast, in Australia, Sharon “Wild Thing” Anyos successfully defended her WBC world featherweight title, when she stopped Esther Schouten of the Netherlands. Full Story

(SEPT 22) Last night in St. Charles, Missouri, Hollie Dunaway (Arkansas), 101, won by an eighth round TKO over  Dee Hamaguchi (NY), 102, for the WIBA World title, in a 10 round bout. WBAN was told that Dee's corner stopped the fight before coming out for the eight. Also down twice in the first round.

(SEPT 21) The article was in the New York Daily News under the byline of a very fine boxing writer, Tim Smith. The story talked of a November fight card at what was once the mecca of boxing, at the time when it was located...Full Story

(SEPT 21) Tonight in St. Charles, Virginia, Hollie Dunaway (Arkansas), 101, will fight Dee Hamaguchi (NY), 102, for the WIBA World title, in a 10 round bout. Dunaway told WBAN, "We are both in the shape of our lives and ready for a great battle."

(SEPT 20) Yesterday a press conference was held at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, where it was announced that 28-year old Laila Ali will be fighting on November 11, 2006, on the undercard, of the Wladmir Klitschko vs. Calvin Brock card. Laila will make her boxing debut at the Garden, 35 years after her father, Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier at the Garden.  Full Story

(SEPT 17) This week the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians (AAPRP) held their conference at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the conference the featured doctors, trainers, boxers, commissioners, and the boxing community involved. On Sept. 15th, at the Awards Banquet, Alex Ramos received an award for "Outstanding Contribution to Boxing.”Full Story
