(SEPT 29) WBAN has received some
disturbing information that Erin Toughill was TKO'd in the first
round on August 31, 2006 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and while
suspended from that sanctioned boxing bout, she fought just 17 days
later, in a Mixed Martial Arts bout at the Cache Creek Casino, in
California. Erin fought on an Indian Reservation, whereas the
California Boxing Commission does not control---sounds like they
should be.
On Ringtalk.com, Pedro Fernandez contacted Armando Garcia, the head
of the California Boxing Commission and he said, "If Erin had to get
licensed for MMA in California, she would have been denied. He
went on to say, "This was a dangerous situation, but we are
powerless with the fight being on Indian land. We will take action
against the promoter, and possibly Toughill.”
