(SEPT 30) On Saturday September 27th, 2008 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada the Main Event of the evening saw Sandy “Lil Tyson” Tsagouris (8-1, 3 KO’s) of Toronto faced off against Paraguay’s Maria Jose Nunez (9-5, 7 KO’s) for the N.A.B.A. Featherweight championship. The winner of this bout would secure a World title shot for 2009 so the stakes were high for both women.  Full Story

When Team Hallback recently made the not so subtle challenge on WBAN, Layla stepped up and accepted. (SEPT 4) The World Boxing Council has been officially notified by Mr. Guillermo Brito that the Super bantamweight interim world champion, Jackie Nava, from Mexico, has decided not to take part in the mandatory fight against the champion of the division, Alejandra Oliveras, from Argentina, a bout that was scheduled to be promoted in October by Box Latino, which obtained the rights to promote such bout with a bid of $34,000 dollars.  Full Story

Top Ten Rising Stars in Women’s Boxing!

(SEPT 2) WBAN ran a Boxing Poll in August giving the Boxing Community an opportunity to give their input as to who they thought were the TOP TEN RISING STARS in the sport. WBAN divided two lists with the first list of the top ten who had 10 fights or less, and/or was an amateur. The second list were the top ten boxers who had over 10 professional fights. These boxers should be extremely proud, being picked by boxing fans out of literally thousands of women boxers both pro and amateur. The poll ended on August 31, 2008.   Check out the Results!
