In “Heart of a Champion,” boxer Rusty Rosenberger tells his story
of how he was cheated out of the World Title by his manager Lou Duva.
In 1979, Rusty had already become the New Jersey Middleweight Boxing
Champion. He was well on the road to his goal of the World Title
when his manager encouraged him to rapidly lose weight and then take
some pills right before the title bout, held inside of Giants
Stadium. Rusty trusted Lou because he felt that as his manager, he

Julaton Dominates Gladney in eight-round decision

(JUNE 25) Last night at the Dade County Auditorium, in Miami,
Florida. Ana Julaton won an eight-round unanimous decision over
Angel Gladney. According to local news sources, Gladney experienced
an open cut on her left cheek. WBAN made an early statement that
Gladney would need to bring an "A" game in this fight, looks like
Julaton did not have much of a problem winning by a decision with
two ringside judges scoring the bout 7 rounds - Julaton and 1 round
- Gladney. The third judge having the bout, 6 - 2 for Julaton. I

in Pico Rivera, California, Kaliesha West, 118, and Ava Knight, 117,
fought to a 10-round split draw. Final judges scores were the
following: 96-94 West, 96-94 Knight, and 95-95. Owen told WBAN,
"West and Knight where like mirror images, their fight was an
offensive battle. Both fighters used excellent combinations in a
continuous struggle to the end." The two were fight for the
WBO bantam title.

(JUN 6) Christy's Martin camp told me today that Christy's hand
has been repaired and "Ok'd" to box as soon as it heals. Christy had
a top-notch surgeon. He said that she can use it for light things in
three weeks.
(JUNE 6) On Saturday night at the
Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California, Dakota Stone, 149,
of Seattle, Washington, defeated Christy Martin, 149.8, of Las
Vegas, Nevada, when Martin sustained a broken hand in the fourth

I heard Martin tell her corner during the one-minute break, that

a televised purveyor of gossip and snark which Mia St. John
chose as her messenger of choice to "call out" Christy Martin.
Mia chose well. During the one minute clip of drivel, TMZ
clearly exhibited a knowledge of the ring that failed to go
beyond sparkling carats on left hands. It was an ideal setting
for the revisionist history St. John was propagating about a
bout in a sport in which she and Martin have toiled for the
better part of two decades.
