Will Jaramillo Come out of Retirement?
by Sue TL Fox
June 14, 2011

(JUNE 14)  When I was in New Mexico this last week on Friday night [June 10], after the Holly Holm vs. Victoria Cisneros fight that took place at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, I got an opportunity to spend some time with Stephanie "Golden Girl" Jaramillo from the South Valley in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

For some of you that may not know her, Jaramillo retired from professional boxing a few years back---but not before having a very successful amateur boxing career, and fighting the very best females in the sport.  She fought Holly Holm twice, with the first fight losing by a majority decision and the second fight went to a draw. [Her Full Biography]

Jaramillo also fought the most feared female at the time in the sport Sumya Anani, with only an eight-day notice when Anani's original opponent had visa problems.  Jaramillo also rematched with Anani in 2004.

Jaramillo at the ripe "young" age of 29, has been mulling it over to come out of retirement.  Of course, I did quite a bit of prodding to convince her that it would be extremely cool to see her return to the sport---and have a trilogy match with Holm (chuckle).

Jaramillo "seems" keen on the idea, and we WILL see if she seriously decides to return to the ring and take care of some unfinished business---Regardless--it's a great shameless rumor!
