Behind the Scenes: Anna Sophie Mathis in New Mexico!

(JUNE 17) The boxing fans who did not attend the Holly Holm vs. Victoria Cisneros fight in Albuquerque, New Mexico, were probably not aware that multi-world champion Anna Sophie Mathis and her trainer came all the way from France to attend the fight, and that Mathis took center-stage in the ring with an announcement that she was going to fight Holly Holm in December.

Before Mathis was called up to the ring though, I noticed she was standing with her trainer on the right of me near the ring.  When I introduced myself to Mathis, and stood beside her, she literally towered over me.

I posed next to her and had to step up on the ring stairs just to be "head to head" with her for photos!

If Mathis comes in the kind of physical condition that she was in when she had fought Myriam Lamare---all I can say is "Look Out" Holm.  Holm will have her work cut out for her.

Let us not forget, that Mathis STOPPED Myriam Lamare in the seventh round in December of 2006. She fought Lamare again, in what I would consider a very hard-hitting rematch with these two in June of 2007, and she defeated Lamare again with a 10-round majority decision.

Holm has also fought Lamare in January of 2009 in what resulted in a unanimous decision for Holm.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that the Mathis was in person at the fights---and it was a great behind the scenes for WBAN!
