New Amateur U.S. National Champions

(JUNE 25) Six new national champions were crowned few minutes ago in Colorado Springs in the final day of the 2011 USA Boxing National Championship.  The competition for non-Olympic weight division in women took place during the afternoon and in few minutes start at the Municipal Auditorium the three bouts in the Olympic weight 112 lbs., 132 lbs., and 165 lbs.

The new champions are the following:

2011 national champion 106 lbs Amy Sowers (Bozeman, Montana). Sowers dec Marina Ramirez (Las Vegas, Nevada) 27-19

2011 USA National Champion 119 lbs Haley Pasion (Waipahu, Hawaii). Passion dec Amanda Pavone (Burlington, Mass.) 87-86 by decision of the judges and the score at the end after the four rounds was 11-11.

2011 USA National Champion 125 lbs Heather Hardy (Brooklyn, NY.) Hardy dec Elizabeth Leddy (Portland, Maine) 21-12.

2011 USA National Champion and retaining her title at 141 lbs Cashmere Jackson (Cleveland, Ohio) dec Matali Luvisa Jackson 27-14.

2011 USA National Champion 152 lbs Stephanie Taylor (West Hills, CA) dec Amournix Stamp (Milwaukee, Wis.) 9-1.

2011 USA National Champion heavyweight Charnita Johnson (Columbus, Ohio). She retained his opponent for not having this year,

Action will resume this evening at 6 PM PT in the Municipal Auditorium with 13 bouts, 10 male and three female, in the Olympic weight divisions.

This year's national amateur boxing championship has awakened great expectations due to the containers fight for qualifying positions for the 2012 Olympics in London.
