(FEB 28) Today in Germany the weigh-in took place for tomorrow night's boxing action at the GETEC Arena, Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.  Christina Hammer, weighed in at 158.9, and her opponent, Jessica Balogun, 156.5.  The two will be fighting for the WBF and WBO middleweight title.  In another mainliner,  Robert Stieglitz, 168, Arthur Abraham, 168, for a WBO su middle title. (FEB 27) In what is one of WBAN's "Cool" Stories of the week, we have learned that Amanda and Cindy Serrano from New York was recently featured in a 12-page spread for a high fashion magazine called XEX.
Some great news followed that featured photo shoot.  Amanda Serrano told WBAN,  "I have some great news, as you know or seen in our pictures we shot a 12-page spread for the high end fashion magazine called XEX.....Full Story

(FEB 27)MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – Twenty-three year old amateur boxer, Sulem Urbina, a Mexican born, U.S. resident, returned to her Team Mexico training camp in Mexico City after winning a gold medal in the 112 lb/51 kg division at the Independence Cup Amateur National Championships. The international competition tournament, which included participants from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, United States, Brazil, and Mexico, was held February 10-February 14, 2014, at the amphitheater located on the campus of the Universidad Technologica de Santiago (UTESA) in Santiago, Dominican Republic. ....Full Story

(FEB 24) On March 1, 2014, on the "Atlanta Fight Night" card, at the North Atlanta Trade Center, in Norcross, Georgia, there will be two female bouts on the card.  In one bout, Melissa "Huracan" Hernandez, 18-5-3 (6KO), of Miami Beach, Florida, will jump up a tad bit in weight to fight Nicole Wood, 11-12-3 (3KO), of Stone Mountain, Georgia.  This will be a rematch for these two, when in 2012, Hernandez won a 10-round unanimous decision over Woods...Full Story

(FEB 16) On Saturday night the boxing gala held in Lurdy Shopping House, Budapest, Hungary two female bouts being staged. The former amateur World- and European championship medalist Csilla Némedi-Varga 112 1/4,  (2-0-0 1KO) is now the second professional super-flyweight bout won the unanimous decision against the former multiple world championship challenger Gabriella Insperger 110, (4-13-0 3KO). (FEB 13) Heather Hardy won her eighth straight professional bout on Wednesday night, but it wasn't easy. The undefeated Brooklyn super bantamweight eked out a razor thin split decision over a game, aggressive Cristina Fuentes in the feature bout of a nine fight DiBella Entertainment card at the historic Roseland Ballroom, which will be razed in the Spring, in the name of progress, to make room for one more skyscraper to dot the skyline of mid town Manhattan. Boxing may be gone from Roseland and Roseland may soon be gone from 52nd St, but Hardy and Fuentes provided one final fistic memory for the sellout crowd that witnessed their eight round bout...Full Story

(FEB 3) This Friday night,  Marianna Gulyas, 11-16-0 (2KO), of Hungary, is set to fight in Munich, Bayern, Germany, against a pro debuter Xenia Jorneau, of Munich, Germany.  The two will be fighting a four-rounder, and Gulyas will be fighting a hometowner by taking on Jorneau. If Gulyas cannot defeat a pro debuter, she may want to re-think what she is doing in the sport.

Exciting Night of Women's Boxing Action in Mexico!

(FEB 2) On Friday night, January 31, 2014, on the “Kings and Queens” live professional boxing card, at the Caliente Racetrack, in Tijuana, Mexico, there were three female bouts on the card. In the mainliner, 20-year old flyweight Kenia Enriquez, 111¼, of Tijuana, now 9-0 (5KO), remained undefeated when she won by a first round TKO [1:16] over the previously undefeated Selene Lopez, 111¼, 3-1-3 (1KO), of Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Ana Laura Esteche: WBAN's February 2014 Fighter of the Month!

(FEB 2) WBAN would like to congratulate Ana Laura Esteche, who was our top pick for the February 2014 Fighter of the month. Esteche delivered Monica Silva Acosta her first loss when she defeated Acosta on January 18th in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The two fought a 10-rounder for the WBA world title belt.
