(FEB 21) Super-flyweight champion
Melissa McMorrow (9-3, 1 KOs) of Palo Alto, California, USA and
former WBC world champion Mariana Juarez (38-7, 16 KOs) of
Mexico City met Thursday afternoon at the Yak Casino of Plaza
las Palmas in Puebla, Mexico for their final press conference.
The two are set to fight Saturday
night for Juarez's WBC International super-flyweight title at
the Miguel Hidalgo Gym live on Televisa Deportes.
“We are very excited to once again put a great boxing show from
top to bottom. These are fights that the fans enjoy. Female
Boxing is living a tremendous moment,” Edgar Alejandre said in
opening Thursday’s proceedings.
The former WBC world champion
Mariana Juarez made her final comments as she was greeted with a
massive ovation from her team. “As a boxer you always want to
fight the best and that is the case when I fight Melissa
McMorrow,” Juarez said. “We have prepared ourselves one hundred
percent to give a war and that’s what you all want. We won’t let
you down. I am sure the biggest winners will be the fans and the
sport of boxing because this fight is going to be a total war.”
McMorrow who is searching her
first WBC title, stated “I won’t disappoint. I promise you a
great fight like I always do and I expect a total war against
Mariana Juarez, a tough opponent that I have ahead of me. I want
to fight nothing but the best. I am ready. Saturday you’ll
witness a tremendous fight from both of us. Let the best woman
win and who knows this might be fight of the year?
WBC international Silver lightweight champion Miguel "Mickey"
Roman (44-11, 33 KOs) of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and
dangerous Mexican Omar Estrella (18-6, 11 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja
California, Mexico were also on hand as they will square off in
the co-feature for Roman's green belt.
Another tremendous Card taking place, will feature Abdiel "Mortero"
Ramirez (21-1, 10 KOs) from Ciudad Juarez vs Guadalupe Rosales
(31-10, 17 KOs) from San Luis Potosi, in a WBC FECOMBOX
lightweight title which currently belongs to Ramirez.
This card is promoted by Promociones del Pueblo with the support

live by Televisa Deportes in Mexico.
