Derieuw Defends WBF World Title Against Santana

(OCT 31) Belgian-born, French-based World Boxing Federation (WBF) Women's World Light Welterweight Champion Oshin Derieuw is in for a tough task when she makes her first title-defense on November 10 in her home-town of Henin-Beaumont.  Undefeated Derieuw, 9-0 (4), who won the WBF world title with a unanimous decision over Lina Tejada last April, takes on another Dominican in former IBF and WBA World Champion Dahiana Santana, 36-9 (15), headlining a show at the Espace Francois Mitterand. Brodnicka will be defending her WBO Super Featherweight world title, in a ten round bout. Ewa last fought in April 2018 against Sarah Pucek, where she won the title.

Katie Taylor Wins by Decision over Cindy Serrano

(OCT 22) On Saturday night, at the TD Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, Katie Taylor, 134.5, of Bray, Ireland, won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano, 132.5, of Brooklyn, New York. Taylor was defending her WBA and IBF Lightweight titles. Final judges scores were 100-90 on all cards.

(OCT 19) Tonight at the Estadio Delmi, in Salta, Argentina, there are two female bouts on the card. In one bout, Marcela Acuna will be fighting Mayerlin Rivas, in a ten-round world title bout, where Acuna will be defending her IBF Super Bantamweight title. The bout will be televised on Argentina TyC Sports. In a second female bout, Brenda Carabajal will be fighting a six-rounder against Paola Ibarra. Card is promoted by O.R. Promotions.

(OCT 17) Another female bout in Argentina, will take place this Friday, October 19th, at the Hindú Basquetbol Club, in Catamarca, Argentina, Jennifer Rasjido, 8-0-1 (3KO),of Catamarca, will face Soledad de Valle Frias, 13-12-4 (4KO), of San Luis, Argentina.  The two will be fighting a six-round bout. Frias has taken on some tough competition in her last two fights, fighting Nicola Adams, and Yesica Bopp.

(OCT 16) On Saturday night, at the Villa Dominico, Estadio José María Gatica, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Yesica "Tuti" Bopp, 107¼, of Buenos Aires, successfully retained her WBA Light flyweight World title, when she fought and defeated by TKO in the tenth round over Sandra "Perla Negra" Robles, 106, of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Sarah Long finally wins her New Zealand Title

(OCT 15) Sarah Long has finally won her New Zealand (NZPBA version) Heavyweight title after a long year of waiting. Long won the NZPBA title by Unanimous Decision against Ashley Campbell. Sarah Long first fought for the title against the champion at the time Alrie Meleisea on November 11th, 2017 at ABA Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. The bout itself was a close fight, enough to get a split decision. However Alrie Meleisea won that bout with some people believing it was a controversial decision.....Full Story

It was her first fight over 10 rounds. New Zealand Boxer Geovana Peres Ranked number 1 in the World

(OCT 8) Brazilian born female Boxer Geovana Peres has become the number one ranked boxer in one of the Major boxing bodies, the World Boxing Association.   Peres who got her New Zealand Citizenship in July 2018, started boxing in 2015 as an amateur. After three amateur bouts, Geovana turned pro in 2017. Since then she won two New Zealand titles and became the first person from the LGBT+ community to win a New Zealand Professional Boxing title.  Full Story

(OCT 5) Martha Salazar can now add West Coast Boxing Hall of Famer to her bio as a world champ in the sport.  The Jalisco, Mexico warrior proudly took her place as the sole female in the Class of 2018. (OCT 4) This year Cecilia "The First Lady" Braekhus, 34-0-0 (9KO), of Norway, has had quite a year in 2018 thus far. On October 1, 2018, welterweight multi-world champion was honored at the WBC 57th Annual convention by being presented with the Guinness Book of World Records awards for three categories.  The categories were following: the longest Reigning Female Boxing Champion; the longest Reign as a Four-Belt Undisputed Boxing Champion; and the Most Bouts undefeated by a female World champion boxer.   Full Story

(OCT 2)  Team USA closed out an impressive weekend in Castellon, Spain at the 2018 Boxam Tournament with five more wins today to bring home five golds, three silvers and one bronze from he tournament. 
Flyweight Virginia Fuchs (Kemah, Texas) picked up the Americans first win of the day. Fuchs took all five judges cards over Australian Taylah Roberts to win her first international gold of 2018. Amelia Moore (Alexandria, Va.) closed out her international tournament debut on the top of the podium following her own unanimous decision win over Stephanie Pineiro of Puerto Rico.
