(AUG 31) The ten women that
will represent Team USA at next month’s Elite Women’s World
Championships in New Delhi, India departed from Colorado
Springs, Colo. this morning for a multination training camp at
the German Olympic Training Center, just outside of Berlin. A
full team roster can be seen below.
The team will be at this final training camp until November 9,
along with numerous countries, including Germany, Great Britain
and Ireland. Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
and National Assistant Coach Kay Koroma (Colorado Springs,
Colo.) will be leading the Americans, along with Marc Gargaro
(Newton, Mass.) and Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas), who are
serving as assistant coaches.
This year’s World Championships is the first Elite Women’s World
Championships since 2016, where Team USA won five medals, one
gold, one silver and three bronze medals. One of those bronze
medals was won by Christina Cruz (New York, N.Y.), who will be
looking for her third World Championships medal this year. Other
members of that team competing in New Delhi include Virginia
Fuchs (Houston, Texas) and Naomi Graham (Colorado Springs,
Colo.).
Other members of USA Boxing’s delegation attending the training
camp and/or the World Championships include, Team Sports
