Jessica McCaskill to fight against Cecilia Braekhus in a multi-world title bout

 (FEB 29)  On Friday, April 17, 2020, at the MGM National Harbor, Maryland, Jessica McCaskill, a Super-Lightweight world title holder will be fighting Cecilia Braekhus, where she will be defending her five World Welterweight titles.  McCasKill will be moving up to welterweight to fight in this weight class.  Braekhus' last weight was 146.5, and McCaskill's highest weight in fighting pro is 138.5.

GA Tech Boxing Hosts USIBA Nationals

(FEB 26)  Atlanta, GA- Georgia Tech Boxing Club and Buckhead Fight Club are hosting the 2020 USIBA National Championship Tournament, March 19- 21. Every year, student boxers from dozens of colleges and universities compete at the USIBA tournament, and this is the first year it will be held in Atlanta, Ga. USIBA participants include Texas A&M, West Point, Cornell and University of Colorado. The Georgia Tech Boxing Club was established in 2018 and their official training facility is Buckhead Fight Club, which is headed by retired female world champion and IWBHF inductee Terri Moss.  Full Story

The International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame Celebrates Seventh Year Anniversary

(FEB 22)  This year marks our seventh anniversary since our inaugural International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) Induction Ceremony on July 10, 2014, held in Ft. Lauderdale,  Florida.  On January 10, 2014, we first announced the inception of the IWBHF and it has continued to grow each year. Each year that we have hosted an IWBHF Induction Ceremony event, our events have been well-received by the boxing community and others outside the sport.  Full Story

(FEB 21) An "A" Sample the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (“VADA”) collected from Ms. Alejandra Jimenez on January 10, 2020, the day before her bout against Franchon Crews Dezurn for the World Boxing Council (“WBC”) Word Female Super Middleweight Championship, yielded an adverse analytical finding. Zulina "La Loba" Muñoz:  Has Her Sights Set on Becoming a Two-Divisional World Champion

Many say you should never stop dreaming. That is definitely the case for 32-year-old former WBC super flyweight champion Zulina “La Loba” Muñoz (51-3-2, 29KO). Hailing from Mexico City, the mother of two has her sights set on becoming a two-divisional world champion this year looking for an opportunity for a bantamweight world title. The first step towards that goal is getting past Valeria “La Pequeña” Perez (12-7, 2KO) for the WBC International 118-pound title on March 8th.  From there Muñoz would like an opportunity for a world title. (FEB 16) Last night at the Grand Star Reception and Convention Centre, Altona North, Victoria, Australia, super flyweight Susie Q Ramadan, won an eight round bout over Gretel de Paz. Team Ireland names 13 strong squad for London Olympic Boxing Qualifier

(FEB 13) Ireland has named a 13 strong squad for the first of the 2020 Olympic boxing qualifiers set for the Copper Box Arena in London March 13/25th but few surprises in that talented squad.  Dublin’s former (2018) World Elite lightweight champion Kellie Harrington is included as indeed is Roscommon's current European Elite middleweight champion Aoife O’Rourke.  Full Story

USA Boxing Announces Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 Qualification Team

(FEB 12) USA Boxing announced today the 13 boxers who will represent Team USA at the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Boxing Qualification Events, as well as the 13 alternates. A full list can be seen below.  The team was announced following the two-stage qualification process that began in December at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing in Lake Charles and concluded at the recent 2020 Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Also included in that group are Sharon Anyos, Melinda Cooper, Jaime Clampitt-Hayes, Kelsey Jeffries, Valerie Mahfood and Mary Ortega. The 2020 class also includes pioneer boxer Graciela Casillas along with acclaimed boxing photographer, Mary Ann Owen and, Shelley Williams. “Tigre” determined there will be no spot on her name

(FEB 3) WBC Female super middleweight champion Alejandra “Tigre” Jimenez is waiting to be cleared by VADA, vowing that she and her team are clean. Alejandra says her first test was negative, then a positive and then a negative. So she awaits the result of the B test, saying it’s very important to clear her name. Two Female Bouts on card in Japan

On January 28, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, there were two female bouts on the card.  In one bout, Kanako Taniyama faced Tomoko Okuda, and the two were fighting for the vacant OPBF (Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation) and Japan Female Bantamweight Title. The bout was a scheduled eight round bout, with Tomoko Okuda winning  by a TD after accidental headbutt (7th round). Final judges scores were 67-66 67-66 68-65 for Okuda.  Full Story
