(FEB 13) NEW YORK, NY – USA Boxing, Metro (“Metro”) opened the 2020 Ring Masters Championships: Road to the Garden at Amazura Night Club in Jamaica, Queens. Boxing fans experienced some of the best amateur boxing in the world, they also had the opportunity to mix and mingle with boxing stars and boxing world notables who came out to support the event. Proceeds will help send Elite Division champions to the National Golden Gloves in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in May.

“We are excited to start our tournament at one of New York's action-packed night clubs with a history of featuring former Golden Gloves champs and many pro boxers on their regular pro boxing shows. Amazura's club feel and sound system gave the exciting bouts tonight more energy and helped make the experience one that any sports fan should not miss, " said Ray Cuadrado, Metro President.

At Amazura on February 6 and day 2 at Gleason's Athletic Club, February 8 fans poured into the shows in support of their favorite boxers. Thursday, Josh Rivera, SweatBox Boxing Club, put on a sterling performance in front of a huge crowd of adoring fans who came out to support him. Saturday at Gleason's the winner of the Metro Venue Fan Favorite Award Victor Candelario, representing Everybody Fights, just edged out stablemate, Jose Calderon, who won the Sting Power Punch Award. Also in the race for fan favorite was Peter LaTorre, Westbury Boxing Club, who won the Smoker Talk Fan Favorite Award for the outpouring of fan engagement online. Peter, a former marine who won his first ever bout said, "I was completely energized by the people who came out to see me tonight. I felt like it helped propel me to victory."

Continued Ring Masters Championships action is set for Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. [Feb. 6 Amazura Results - PDF] [Feb. 8 Gleason Results - PDF]
