(FEB 24) WBAN has learned earlier today that it has been reported that Finland has banned female boxer Kuulei Kupihea, 29 years old, 7-2-0 (2KO), for testing positive for doping, after she fought Norway's Cecelia Braekhus on December 3, 2011 in Helsinki, Finland. (FEB 13) In March of 1993, it was reported worldwide that Dallas Malloy became the first female to challenge the USA Boxing’s bylaw in a federal court. Malloy was the first to challenge the USA boxing bylaws. Her dream was to box against other women in the Olympic Games, a goal attainable only as a member of USA Boxing. (FEB 5)  Anyone see the Nonito Donaire vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. fight last night on HBO?  What looked like a complete shut out for Donaire, one judge must have been text messaging or something throughout the fight scored the fight for Vazquez!  Thankfully Donaire won by a split!

Over 700 Boxers Register for the 2012 USA Boxing National Championships

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – A record breaking number of athletes will compete in the 2012 USA Boxing National Championships, February 26-March 3 at the Fort Carson Special Events Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Registration for the event concluded on Monday and a whopping 718 athletes have signed up to compete in the tournament.
