(AUG 31) Jizelle Salandy of Trinidad and Tobago, was given the highest award in her country.  She was given the Chaconia Gold Medal for her acts of gallantry in the boxing ring. This was presented to her by the President of Trinidad and Tobago.

(AUG 31) Tonight in Toluca, Mexico, Ana Marie Torres, 15-2-1 (10KO), of Mexico City, will be fighting Marylin Hernandez, 13-6-1, of Santo Domingo, DR, for the WBC super flyweight title. Bantamweight Susana Vazquez is also scheduled on the card.

(AUG 28) WBAN was notified by Stacy Goodson last night that professional boxer, Amanda Lyons, just 20 years old, of Conway, Arkansas, was killed in a tragic vehicle accident on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at 1:30 a.m, in Conway. Goodson told WBAN, "Amanda was a 20 year old who always wanted to fight at every local boxing show. Although she only had been fighting less than a year, she would always call asking when the next time she could fight.  Full Story

World Boxing Cares is finally reaching out to the public with their first New York Event. It will be an evening of entertainment and comedy, where people from the boxing community will get to mingle with each other, as well as honor some of the well known people who've worked hard to make this dream come true. (AUG 25) Olivia Gerula picked her shots in a four round fight against Sosadea Razo at the Orleans hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Razo tagged Gerula a few times but it did not faze Gerula, Gerula came back landing combinations incorporating some good lateral movement. Gerula won the Las Vegas fans over, they began chanting her name and cheering her on in the later rounds.  Full Story

(AUG 21)  Last Friday night, at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel, in Fort Worth, Texas, lightweight Crystal Delgado, 133, made her pro debut against another pro debuter, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Tavarez, 132 1/4. (AUG 19) Last night at the Civic Center, in Houma, Louisiana, after not fighting for four years, Jeanne “Boom Boom” Martinez, 188,  now 14-6-4 (5KO), of Slidell, Louisiana, returned to the sport by fighting pro debuter, Savanna Payne, 183. (AUG 18) Last Thursday, at the Frontier Field, in Rochester, New York, featherweight Ela Nunez, 126,  won a four-round majority decision over Lindsay Garbatt, 123.5.
