World Champion Carina Moreno
returns to THE RIOT in Monterey
Source: Press Release
August 17, 2007

(AUG 17) She began her pro career at THE RIOT AT THE HYATT, and progressed to become the WBC World Strawweight Champion. Carina "La Reina" Moreno, the pride of Watsonville fought 5 times in Monterey, and returns home with her World Championship belt. "I'm excited about having her back and giving fans a chance to see her in action again" say's promoter/matchmaker Jerry Hoffman.

Carina will be matched tough, against a bigger and more experienced pro in Sharon Gaines from Las Vegas. The contract weight for Moreno (13-1) vs. Gaines (11-7) will be at 112 pounds, seven pounds heavier than Carina's preferred Championship weight. "Nobody in the World can beat Carina at 105, but giving up size to her opponent for this bout was the only way a match could be made in Monterey" explains Hoffman. See attachment for fight details.

Sensational Salinas undefeated Jr. Lightweight Eloy Perez (9-0-2) will also be in action, as will fellow prospect Brian Gordon (3-0, Bakersfield). Unbeaten Salinas Superflyweight Constancio Alvarado (2-0-1) will also be on the card with other bouts and opponents yet to be announced. Another female fighter, Cynthia Talmadge of San Francisco is also scheduled.

The Monterey Conference Center in the heart of historic downtown Monterey is THE RIOT venue, Friday, October 26th. Doors open at 6:30 pm, first of 6 pro bouts at 7:30 pm. Advance tickets are on sale now to charge by phone at (831) 688-1604. Prices are $85. Ringside Table seat, $65. Preferred Table seat, and $40. Reserved.
