(AUG 3) WBAN received an open letter
from Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, who wanted to give her side of
what occurred in regards to her canceled fight against Brooke
Dierdorff that was to take place on August 3, 2007, in Doraville,
Georgia. Hernandez said the following:
“First off, I want to thank all the females fighters that text and
called to find out if I was okay. Here's the low down of why I'm not
fighting. The promoter of the card I was fighting did not pull up my
meds in a timely matter so I wasn't able to get my necessary meds.
Also the promoter told me he would not pay for my MRI. In all good
faith, I took the fight for only 2,500 as a favor for him. He wanted
for me to cover the MRI from that purse. If I did I would have been
fighting for free almost. He also didn't tell me in time what meds I
needed to fight for him. I'm very upset that I couldn't fight.
Everyone knows that I'm always up for a fight and that I'm of sound
health. I will never work with this promoter again. I cut all ties
with him, because of this matter. I believe that it was his fault
that I didn't get to fight. Again thanks, for the support. You'll
see me back in action again real soon. Peace and blessing – Huracan”
