(SEPT 27) WBAN had an opportunity to meet up with past female boxer Wendy Sprowl.  She fought professionally from 2000 to 2002, and fought under the ring name of "Queen of Thunder." (SEPT 27) We just less than a week away before Geovana Peres defends her world title against Claire Hafner, but the main event isn't the only thing we are talking about.  On the main undercard, Lani Daniels (4 - 2 - 1) will be taking on Tessa Tualevao (1 - 6 - 1) for the third time in their careers. They will be fighting for the vacant New Zealand Professional Boxing Commission Female Middleweight Title for the second time. (SEPT 26) Reigning two-weight World Boxing Federation (WBF) Women's World Champion Ema Kozin will make her first defense of the WBF World Super Middleweight title on Sunday October 6 at the Arena Stozice in her home-town of Ljubljana, Slovenia.  20-year-old Kozin, nicknamed “The Princess”, won the WBF World Super Middleweight crown last March, when she out-boxed Sanna Turunen from Finland to win a wide unanimous decision in Ludwigsburg, Germany.  Full Story

(SEPT 26)  WBAN has updated our latest historical WBAN Fights that have taken place since 2008.  Only the "Best of the Best" fight for these belts, along with a sanctioned belt that is always on the bout.  We do this to honor elite female boxers who are ranked at the top in the world.  A promoter cannot BUY this belt---this is totally on only the best bouts being made in the sport, and the WBAN Board votes on allowing the WBAN Belt to be added to the fight.  Full Story

New Zealand News:  Short Notice Rematch Confirmed

(SEPT 25) Due to Sarah Long (3-3-0) opponent in a kickboxing fight pulled out for this weekends event in ABA Stadium in Auckland New Zealand, Sarah will fight in a boxing fight instead. She will take on the returning Alrie Meleisea (4-0-0) in a rematch.  The two last fought in November 11th 2017 in an 8 round fight for the New Zealand (NZPBA version) Heavyweight title. The fight was a close contest but ended with Alrie winning by Unanimous Decision, which some people call it a controversial decision..Full Story

(SEPT 23) On Saturday night, at the St. Petersburg Marriott Clearwater, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, there were two female bouts. In one bout,

(SEPT 18) New Zealand boxer Geovana Peres (7 wins 1 lose) will be defending her WBO World Women’s Light Heavyweight title on October 4th at Sky City Convention centre in Auckland, New Zealand.  Brazilian born New Zealander won her world title earlier this year in March against fellow New Zealand boxer Lani Daniels. Now after winning the title, her biggest test is yet to come, defending it against an International opponent. Next month when No. 1 ranked light welterweight Ravven Brown enters the ring at the Elite Women's World Championships, it'll mark her first participation in an international tournament.  The 28-year-old Brown got a relatively late start in boxing, less than three years ago and quite by accident. (SEPT 7)  The 2019 EUBC Youth championships (male and female) are now reaching the final days bouts at the Sports Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The EUBC tells us that ‘Boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 are eligible to compete these Championships. Altogether 37 nations are taking part in this prestigious tournament. The total number of boxers competing for titles is 339 including 126 female athletes..Full Story
