Team USA Wins Eight Medals in European Events

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Eight U.S. boxers took home hardware from two international events in Europe over the weekend. Team USA won three medals at the Olympic Test Event in London, England and five American athletes advanced to semifinal competition at the World Cup of Petroleum Countries in Surgut, Russia. British Boxers Excel in London Olympic Test Finals

(NOV 28) On Saturday night in Santana do Livramento, Brazil, Chris Namus, 140, had a "Tune Up" bout against Victoriana Britez, 138¾. Namus stopped Britez in the first round by a TKO.  A while back, Chris had announced her retirement from the sport----but then the buzz was going around that she would continue to fight.

(NOV 27) On Wednesday night (Nov 23), at the Kawasaki Todoroki Arena, in Kanagawa, Japan, bantamweight Kimika Miyoshi won a six-round unanimous decision over Kai Johnson. The bout was an action-packed toe-to-toe bout. It looked like Kai Johnson had the fight early, but Kimika Miyoshi came on late with effective short-range punches. (NOV 12) Retired WIBF/WIBA strawweight champion Terri Moss was awarded the Most Influential Person in Boxing Award, and the Critics Choice for the Georgia Boxing Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 5 by the Georgia Fighter's Association. Terri also accepted an award for her former trainer Xavier Biggs, placing him in the Georgia Boxing Hall of Fame, and stood by as her fighter, junior lightweight Jackie Breitenstein (6-1, 5 KO) received the Georgia Female Fighter of The Year award.
