With widespread support by boxing family Ukrainian athletes win at EUBC U 22 European Boxing Championships

(MAR 30) The Ukrainian team has won medals at this year’s EUBC U22 European Boxing Championship in Croatia thanks to the support of European boxing stakeholders.  The men’s Ukrainian boxing team won six medals in total including two bronze medals, three silver medals along with Yuriy Zakharieiev winning gold in the men’s light middleweight category. The women’s team also won medals with three bronze medals and Karolina Makhno winning gold in the middleweight category.  Full Story

Layla "Amazing" McCarter Wins by decision in Mexico

(MAR  27) On Friday night in Xochitepect, Morelos, in Mexico, Layla “Amazing” McCarter won a ten-round unanimous decision over Brazilian Halanna dos Santos. Final judges scores were 100-92, 100-90, and 98-92. McCarter is now 46-13-5 (11KO). There was another female bout on the card and we will report more when we get the information on that bout.

(MAR 25) Tomorrow night at the Habtoor Grand Resort and Hotel in Al Falea Street, in Dubai, Denise Castle, 3-2-0 (3KO), of Bournemouth, Dorset, United Kingdom, will be entering the squared circle with Norj Guro, 11-7-0 (4KO), of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Philippines, to fight in an eight-round bout for the WBC Silver Atomweight title. (MAR 24) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  --The brackets are set, and Team USA now knows their potential path to stand atop the medal podium in Guayaquil, Ecuador at the 2022 AMBC Elite Championships, as competition begins today.  2021 Elite Men’s World Champion Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.) will be the first American to take to the ring, as he will face Mexico’s Miguel Fernando Vega Barreras in the day’s first session. Barreras competed at the 2021 World Championships, where he advanced to the quarterfinals. This will be Harvey’s first bout since his gold medal performance in Serbia last year.  Full Story

(MAR 20) Last night at theClub Portugues del Gran Buenos Aires, Isidro Casanova, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Featherweight Sabrina Maribel Perez, 122 1/4, of Buenos Aires, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Yolis Marrugo Franco, 122 1/2, also of Buenos Aires. (MARCH 13) Good news for women's boxing, as Mayerlin Rivas,160402 (10KO) the WBA Super Bantamweight title holder has joined the ranks of Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing. She has signed a multi-promotional deal with them.  In a press release they wrote the following:  Rivas, from Venezuela,  the WBA title at Bantamweight in June 2015 and made three defenses before moving up to 122 lbs and won the WBA crown in her second title tilt at the weight, having been edged out via split decision for the IBF title Marcela Acuna in Argentina in October 2018.  Full Story

IBA Announces Support For Ukrainian Boxing Team

(MAR 3) IBA has yesterday announced a range of initiatives aimed at supporting Ukrainian boxing team, while expressing its gratitude to those in the boxing family who are already providing support.
IBA will provide financial and logistical support for Ukrainian boxers and other team members seeking to continue their participation in competition. Where possible, IBA will also provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian team members arriving in neighbouring countries. Full Story
